A holiday rental in Orgon, France is a fantastically picturesque base from which to explore Provence, as it is excellently positioned between some of the best known tourist attractions in the region. It is very hard to do the scenery of Orgon justice, but as soon as you see the medieval tower looming over the village, you will know that this will not be your last trip to an Orgon villa.

Orgon has an amazingly long history, which means that the current village boasts a remarkable mix of styles and cultures. A tour of the village on foot is a magnificent way to get your bearings when you first arrive at an Orgon property, with the 13th century chateau acting as an excellent starting and finishing point. Orgon’s surrounding countryside, from the Durance Valley to the many hills of the Apilles, are a maze of footpaths and bridleways. There are many excellent routes to take through the hills, and those wishing to strap on crampons, there are a great range of climbing routes to conquer, ranging from the seemingly impossible to the easily accessible. Great property in perfect location.

We received a very friendly welcome. We were impressed by this recently modernised, well appointed house, which included everything needed for an enjoyable stay. Location excellent, parking, air conditioning, outdoor space with BBQ and supermarket nearby all enhanced our stay.

Come here - there is so much to enjoy.

The mazet was adequate for our needs, and cheerfully furnished. The neighbours were friendly and chatty but not intrusive. It was located ten minutes walk from the centre of town where there were a large number of excellent restaurants and cafes, a baker with a wide range of most enjoyable bread and pastries, shops for souvenirs, and a church; it was also the same distance from the roman remains, and from the bull ring (a must to visit anywhere around the Camargue for the highly entertaining Course Carmarguaise and Toro Piscine). We particularly liked having a reserved parking space by the mazet. We took days out in Avingnon (The New Town, Villeneuve, is an often overlooked gem but which we loved, while the old town was rather overrun with roadworks due to the new tram network that is being built), down to the Camargue for the Flamingo Park, the beach at Les Saintes Maries De La Mer, and the old roman walls at Aigues-Mortes. The Paella is excellent in these towns and is at least as good as anything you will get in Spain. Finally we went to watch the birds and the salt pans at the moonscape that is Salin-de-Giraud. Arles has extensive roman ruins as well as an ampitheatre that is still used, however we struggled to find anywhere to park and could only drive past. Lastly we headed up to the hills to Les Baux, about 15 minutes drive away, which is a very beautiful village in an old hill fort. Parking was outside the village and was cheap, but is metered and closely patrolled so you need to make sure you book enough time to walk up from the car (10-15 minutes each way) as well as eat and shop. Lastly it was great to enjoy the French celebrations at winning the World Cup. The only slight disappointment was that there was no grill or oven in the mazet so we had to make do with using the microwave to cook our pizza in for our night in. In short, Come here! There is so much to enjoy,
