A gite with a view!

4 of 5
The location of the Lake House is amazing with views across the lake from the house and garden. The sun rises on the opposite side of the lake making a beautiful start to the day if you're lucky enough to have sunshine, which we were, every day! The main living room is bright and airy and very comfortable with a balcony for sitting and alfresco dining. It's well located for visiting the area, especially the war cemeteries and memorials. It is also a good area for walking but you need to take your own refreshments as we found few villages had shops, bars or cafes. There are many small picturesque villages and the towns of Albert and Corbie are really worthwhile visiting. We especially liked Corbie. We can also recommend hiring a guide to view the war sites. We did a half-day tour with an excellent guide from the Tourist Office at Albert called Flora who spoke very good English. She was worth every euro, she gave us so much extra background information .

Great place, especially for kids.

Good location, close enough to drive to the coast or into Paris. The hosts were lovely and speak enough English to assist with anything needed. The property has everything you need and a really well equipped games room all to yourselves. But the highlight is being able to freely wander around the hosts' garden which has ducks, geese, horses, rabbits and chickens. Our kids were fortunate enough to witness a pheasant hatching. We're already planning a return.
