Everything about our holiday was fantastic. The accommodation had everything that we could have needed and was a brilliant lay out for our group. The grounds were really lovely, in particular the beautiful wisteria right outside the door over the outdoor table. So many lovely touches it is difficult to list them all! The pool area and gardens are perfect for young children and being able to use the inflatables and other toys was so handy.
Our hosts were incredibly welcoming and could not have been more helpful. The cafe in the village that is owned by the hosts is excellent, lovely food and ambience. Really hope we get the opportunity to come to this beautiful, peaceful village again. Thank you
The gîte was small but very well equipped, nice touches such as fans and fly screens were much appreciated in the heat! It was perfectly clean and whilst it didn't have a washing machine there was a very efficient one in a nearby building. The pool was lovely, spotlessly clean and well maintained and heated, which was welcome as with air temperatures of 37°c it would have been unbearably chilly if it hadn't been. Asnières is a gorgeous little village, with not much going on, so it's very quiet. The Manor House and church are, however, well worth a visit for their mediaeval frescoes. If church bells bother you at 7am, then you might be disappointed, but to be fair after day one you sleep through them pretty well. If you visit at the right time of year you will be able to walk round the grounds of the local château (Vieuxmoulin) - opening hours are for one week in August and some of the weeks in September. The Pavillon café is great, with simple but nicely cooked food and a pleasant garden to sit in. It's owned by the gîte owners who are English. The owners are friendly and helpful without being 'in your face' in any way. The village is pretty close to Le Mans which is a beautiful city with a mediaeval centre and plenty of big modern shops and little boutiques. It has an amazing light show on summer evenings, with projections on to 8 different buildings, including the cathedral and the town walls, and is a highlight of any trip, well worth going to see. There are also lots of lovely villages in the surrounding area; Sainte Suzanne, Parcé sur Sarthe and Saulges stood out for us.
Thanks in particular to Mark and Liesa for making our stay a very pleasant one.
