A nicely presented traditional house, with a specious terrace with views across the lake and stunning countryside beyond.
Well equipped kitchen and dinning area, all kitchen equipment of a good standard and we wanted for nothing here.
Triple bedded room in basement was cool in the hot days with a well equipped shower room.
Upper rooms, were spacious and fitted to a standard, would have greatly benefitted from a fan or two as we visited in the hottest summer and the house has sun on it most of the afternoon. Upper bathroom small but usable.
Outside space good but more shade would help while using the patio and a sun lounger or two would have been nice, the chairs were a little tired and the two deck chairs weren't safe to use.
All in all a comfortable well equipped house but need a little TLC, the few other minor additions I have mentioned would improve it.
This is a comfortable and spacious home in a quiet rural setting. The owners are both artists and their home is decorated with original and striking work. The garden and patio were open and sunny but there was access to shady woodlands for walking, running and cycling. Vidya was at home to show us around when we arrived and made everything available to us - such as herbs, spices and oils for cooking; spare towels and showering things; and was happy for us to borrow their 2 bicycles. She is very interested in food provenance and was able to recommend locally produced and organic food outlets which we certainly enjoyed sampling.
The box of tourist leaflets was comprehensive and included the three local IGN 1:25000 maps (equivalent of UK OS maps) of the surrounding areas so we were able to explore in detail the local paths and lakes to swim in.
While feeling very much away from it all at the house, we also made day trips to Annecy and Geneva (you need your passport); and hiked in the high mountains of the Haut Jura which was accessible and well signed and much less busy than the Alps.
We felt Vidya and Alex were very attentive hosts who welcomed us warmly and did their best to make our stay as relaxing as possible, and took the time to come and have a coffee with us before we left.
Many thanks to them both for the use of their beautiful home for a week.
