A quiet and peaceful location close to the extraordinary medieval city of Carcassone.

5 of 5
A nice comfortable house with a beautiful pool which we spent many happy hours in. Lovely to Find a property where we could take our dog who travels everywhere with us! Big enclosed garden space for her and no worries for us once the electric gate was shut! The region has a fascinating history and we made many day excursions to explore Cathar castles and the little winding roads and gorges which lead to them. Carcassone offers a wonderful backdrop and although very touristy (of course) we enjoyed some reasonable meals within its walls. Some top tips for visits are the Grottes des Limoux...unforgettable and The Four Towers. Carcassone itself is a scintillating mixture of ancient and new. The house is situated in a very quiet gated suburb and a car is essential. The city walls are around a five minute drive away and other many amenities just outside, such as a huge shopping complex with Carrefour and Leclerc which are a short drive away. The house is fairly basic but it is clean and spacious and the outside area is great for Swimming and family eating. Once you are in the house itself you are fairly isolated so this is a good base from which to explore the riches of the region, then come Back to the peace of the house and just relax. The pool and house are not overlooked at all and their is a good sense of privacy. Eric is a relaxed and genial host and we enjoyed meeting him. He was also a responsive host. We arrived on Bastille day and got To see the most fantastic fireworks display over the castle of Carcassone. A fantastic start to our holiday. Overall, highlights were the pool and weather and getting out and about to visit the local historical sights.

One of the best holiday properties we have stayed in.

5 of 5
We booked the property so we as a family could celebrate Richard's forthcoming 80th birthday. It did not disappoint, the house was charming and the heated pool wonderful. Frederick kept the pool in immaculate condition. Anne was very helpful - keen that everything was always OK. We would not hesitate in recommending it. The village of Alzonne has a supermarket and a wonderful butcher, both open on Sunday mornings - very near to do the shopping. We had a great holiday, despite some poor weather, and were very sorry to leave but hopefully will be back some time. We do miss playing ball with the family dog - keeps you fit!!
