Make a holiday villa in Montpezat your home away from home

Situated geographically between Bordeaux and Toulouse you will find Montpezat holiday villas for every budget. No matter the size of your group, you can easily find holiday villas in Montpezat for families, couples and larger groups. With all properties being comfortably furnished and equipped, you’ll wonder why you didn’t book through HomeAway before now. Montpezat is excellent cycling country and a day out on bicycles will be one you will fondly remember.

Things to do

Montpezat is located in a picturesque area of Southern France and is fairly close to many interesting towns which house historical buildings or destinations. Cycling the area allows you to visit many of these places while enjoying the surrounds of nature (and getting in some exercise too!) Having your own car will allow you to explore those towns that are just that little bit further away as you day trip from your Montpezat holiday accommodation.

-Visit Abbaye de St-Pierre in the town of Moissac, with its unusual sculpture of Jesus that attracts many visitors. The sculpture depicts Jesus with three arms and hands. The cloister is also magnificent. After the abbey visit, spend some time in the pretty town through which the Tarn River and Canal de Garonne run. There are 3 guided walking tours if you want to experience the history of Moissac.

-The Grotte du Bosc caves should be enough to lure you from your fabulous Montpezat holiday cottage. Water running through these limestone caves has created a spectacular environment showing all kinds of colours in the rock. You will enjoy a guided tour as well as video to explain the formation of the caves and even samples of minerals and fossils are provided. Remember to take a jacket since the caves average around 14 degrees Celsius year round.

-Markets are plentiful in small pretty towns around Montpezat. Towns like Caussade and St-Antonin Noble Val hide fabulous local markets that let you see, hear and taste the real France. Try cheeses, oils and local specialties available for you to sample.

-Toulouse is the largest town (well, it’s a city really) in the area. Enjoy the drive through pretty scenic countryside and explore the museums and churches that are prolific in this area. The Cite de l'Espace science museum is well worth a visit if you have children in your group, although many of the displays are in French only. Go early to get the most out of your day and to get an electronic translator for the Imax movie.

-The coastline and beaches are within easy access. Holiday accommodation in Montpezat is conveniently located to allow around a 30 minute drive to deliver you to a glorious coastline just waiting to be discovered. If shopping is what you are after, the coastal towns offer everything you might wish for.

The weather in Montpezat

Montpezat experiences its highest average temperatures during August of each year, whilst the month of May is generally when the most rain falls. Choosing Montpezat holiday villas with a swimming pool could allow you to experience the summer in relative comfort. The coldest months to visit Montpezat are November to March.

Getting to Montpezat

Visitors to Montpezat can easily arrive in Paris via the Eurostar and then transit to the nearest train stations of Marmande or Agen. From there it is just 30km or so to reach your holiday destination via taxi or hire car. Should you be up for the drive, the distance from the ferry point in Calais is approximately 850km.

A Litle Bit of Heaven in the Country

5 of 5
The property is unusually spacious for a two person property. Surrounded by farm land, arable no animals, it is very well fitted out and very well equipped. Its location is very good for Nerac which is about 4kms away. It is not too close and not to far. It is very easy to reach ancient towns and many excellent vineyards by road. The are plenty of good restaurants close by. We found the local people to be very welcoming and helpful. The owners are charming. They are eager to ensure you enjoy your stay whilst being unobtrusive. They have a great deal of local knowledge which they are only too happy to share. The notes that go with the property are very comprehensive. This part of France is large areas of farm land with few people. That makes travelling by car very easy and it an enjoyable experience - not something that could be said about much of Europe today. All in all a delightful property in a beautiful part of the world in which to spend a holiday.

Truly relaxing stay in a lovely cottage

5 of 5
We spent 3 weeks at Tournesol Cottage in August 2017 with our 2 young boys, aged 3 and 6 years. All of us had a great time, the boys loved the pool and exploring the grounds - we got the chance to really relax! The cottage itself has been finished to a nice standard and makes for a comfortable stay. Neil & Trish, the property guardians, live in a separate cottage on site - they are very friendly and welcoming, making sure everything is OK for your stay. Neil kept the boys entertained as he cleaned the pool and tended to the grounds! We had a good run of decent weather during our stay, with temperatures up into the mid-30s. A couple of thunder storms rolled in over the hills during the evenings - fascinating to watch with it being so open there. Wi-Fi is available at the cottage but due to the location, speeds are quite slow, with the connection dropping out sometimes. I found switching to a mobile hotspot was better at times. You have to remember that you are in deepest rural France - it's not your typical holiday resort and you have to venture out further for supplies and activities - but that's what makes for such a relaxing stay. Highly recommended!
