We had a lovely cosy stay at Faget Abbatial, From the warm welcome to the lovely and warm heating which was needed as we arrived in late October just as a cold spell started.
The house had everything that we needed to make our stay restful peaceful and comfortable. Full kitchen diner, two bedrooms and bathrooms (en suite). Lounge with large screen TV. Great WiFi. Lots of room outside and private off road car parking. The house was a great place to stay as a base to visit the many small villages and towns that are nearby and also the larger towns such as Toulouse, Lourdes, or the Pyrenees. I would recommend having a car though.
I would love to stay again sometime in the future.
I would highly recommend this Chateau for a peaceful stay in the French Countryside. Our party of 18 (including 3 children) stayed here for a week and we had a great time! The rooms are well appointed, there is enough seating for everyone and all the small things (utensils, crockery drying racks, washer/dryer, fridges etc) are ready for immediate use. The buildings are beautiful, the pool is a good size and we had such fun playing tennis, basketball and just sitting together in the evenings in the pool house. Local amenities are a short car journey and you can easily walk to the nearest village for bread and small groceries. Touget is a gorgeous little village with a small bar/tabac and the locals were very friendly. We spent a number of days just soaking up the sun but did venture out most days. Toulouse is about a 60 minute drive away and must not be missed. There are plenty of other things to do such as chateau visits, market days in local towns and a great selection of bars and restaurants.
This Chataeu provides everything you need and the owners were not on site everyday but did give us their contact details in case of an emergency. We never felt 'watched over' and we made sure the place was as clean when we left as it was when we arrived.
We had some greats self catered meals as the kitchens were big enough to make large meals (huge pans etc for one pot meals) and there was always enough space for a good party/buffet/evening of drinking.
I only gave 4 star as most of the mattresses, although big enough, were not suitable for everyone (some very soft, others thin and hard), some of the bathroom facilities had minor issues (shower heads broken so that water sprayed everywhere bar on your body) and there was a massive problem with flies, wasps and mosquitoes. We used fly papers to combat the flies but the wasps were a real problem as they were nesting in the wall of the pool house by the barbecue. The owners did point this out on arrival but I hope they manage to get this professionally cleared before the next party arrives. The youngest child in our party was stung three times on the first day playing on the slide at the back of the pool house.
However, all in all it was definitely worth the money we paid, everyone had a great time (we did a treasure hunt, played hide and seek, spent hours in the pool and on the tennis court, had bbq's despite the wasps, had a huge buffet party and so on).
Certainly worth it!!!
