Fantastic location with a view to die for

4 of 5
From Mt. Canigou to the left and to the distant view of the Med to the right, the panoramic view from the balcony overlooking the pool in this picture, is stunning. Our party of three adult males, Grandad(me) son-in-law and a grandson had a most satisfying stay returning every evening from visiting the many, varied easily reachable 'must see' sites such as the astonishing castle of Queribus and the beautiful medieval walled town of Villefranche de Conflent just to sit out on the balcony and nibble on Tapas style finger food and watch the end of the day enfold over the wonderful view assisted, of course, by copious amounts of the excellent wines of the local Cotes de Rouissillion (they keep the best to themselves here) The lovely coast road to Spain along the Cote Vermeille is an easy drive. Banyuls sur Mer is about 35minutes. Argeles, Collioure and Port Vendres even less. Spain just a little further. The A.9 motorway is about 20 minutes. The property is spacious and has an excellent and well equipped kitchen, the showers are good. To be ultra critical parts of the property are a little bit 'tired' but for the price asked for this property it is exceptionally good value compared with similar properties. In any case, with weather like they have here and a pool like this together with the stunning view, you will not be spending much time indoors! The pool is all you would want. Many pools offered in this area are simply large baths, great for children but not so satisfying for those who like a swim. Steps at the shallow end allow easy access for children and a deep end, well above standing height, gives depth for those who like to dive in. It is serviced twice a week by the excellent Jezz, who will give you good local info. In short, for someone who has, over the last 30years, come to love this beautiful part of France, I would rate this property as a four star property but five stars plus for value for money and many more stars just for the view

The apartment was absolutely perfect with a stunningly good view of Collioure - highly recommended!

I had not realised that the balcony door was a double opening sliding door - it had an instant wow effect so I understood Eugene's recommendation to just sit and enjoy the view. We ate out every night in Collioure and Port Vendres but you could easily just stay in and enjoy the apartment- everything you need is in the kitchen to cook in. PV is closer and can be reached in 10 mins walking but Collioure has that special feel with the old streets and a greater choice of restaurants. Difficult to pick a best place to eat as we had excellent meals almost everywhere we went. Whilst the food was actually fine we did not feel particularly welcome in Chez Pujol and this was the only blot on an otherwise perfect holiday. Would recommend driving to Villefranche to get the Jaune Train and make sure you get the open carriage at least one way - spectacular! Also whilst there spend a bit of time in the village itself as it is very quaint and a good choice of places for lunch . We had some crepes in La Forge D'Auguste which were lovely but the sal du Bain was worth the visit in itself -- a definite lol moment. Also had a great time paddling around the bay on the kayak which was a great bonus A perfect apartment in a very beautiful area - I have no doubt we will return again. A big thanks to Angela and Eugene for use of their lovely space and all the helpful advice and directions!! Merci !
