Make a Holiday Rental Apartment in Montcuq, France, Your Home Away From Home

The attractive and popular tourist destination of Montcuq is situated in the Lot department of Midi-Pyrenees. This is in the south-west of France and just a couple of hours north of the city of Toulouse. It is thought that the history of this settlement dates at least as far back as Roman times. Holidays in Montcuq can actually be taken at any time of the year and this is because there are a good number of summer activities to enjoy, as well as nearby winter sports resorts. It might be a good idea to forget all about hotels in this part of France, instead, self catering accommodation in Montcuq is a very popular choice. This is down to the fact that you can enjoy so much more space and luxury in your very own home-away-from-home.

Things to Do on Holiday in Montcuq, France

The beautiful rolling countryside surrounding the self catering accommodation in Montcuq is likely to prove to be a tremendous draw during your time in the area. It is quite literally crying out for your exploration and this can be done by way of nature walks, hiking treks, cycling and mountain biking and even horse riding excursions. In addition, other activities available to tourists to the area include golf (a few good resorts in this part of Midi-Pyrenees to choose between), swimming, canoeing, tennis and fly-fishing.

Places to Visit on Holiday in Montcuq, France

One of the great things about taking your holidays in Montcuq is the fact that you are centrally located to such a large number of popular French tourist destinations. These include Montauban, Cahors, Bergerac, Villefranche-de-Rouergue, Figeac and Moissac. There is one city that really should be at the top of your sightseeing itinerary, however, and this is Toulouse, which is only a couple of hours’ drive south of Montcuq. This is an historic and very interesting city to visit and some of the most popular tourist attractions to catch whilst here include The Musee des Augustins, Basilique Saint-Sernin, The Museum of Natural History, Toulouse Museum, Cathedrale St Etienne and Toulouse Botanical Gardens.

Travel to Montcuq, France

Beautiful townhouse with pool and spectacular view

5 of 5
Wonderful! The house, garden and pool are even lovelier than the photos and the pool is clean and warm. We had full privacy despite the pool being shared with the owners property next door. Marie Claire is a great hostess and always responded to my questions promptly. The place is fully stocked and we had everything we needed. I can highly recommend Mansion Lauzerte. Thank you! Some useful info: The gorgeous ground bedroom with the poster bed has an en-suite bathroom (the roll-top bath plus a separate shower) with washing machine / tumble dryer in a cupboard. This bathroom has a separate access to the hallway. The ground floor includes the kitchen/dining and informal lounge area opening out onto a balcony overlooking garden and pool. Interior stairs lead down to the outside. The first floor has one bedroom (with additional child's bed) and the formal lounge (with the wi-fi hot-spot). Separate bathroom with a shower. On the second floor, there is a charming rustic bedroom with the black and white tiled shower room positioned like an open mezzanine to the bedroom with a half wall for privacy, so a couple sharing need to be comfortable with this arrangement. Be prepared to look for a parking space as cars park in the narrow streets (right near the front doors) so we couldn't always park outside or at the owners garage. However, we always found a space, often just outside the property. Finding a parking space became a quirky feature of our holiday and is typical of medieval towns. If arriving on a Sunday afternoon, it is not easy to do any shopping on Sunday and Monday. My advice is to ask if any essentials could be provided (which I hadn't considered) or do essential food shopping at the airport in the morning or any supermarket you see open. They all tended to shut by midday. We ate at the pizzeria at the lower square on the Sunday evening. Generally, restaurants on the upper square shut early and we got turned away looking for a meal at 9pm because they were closing (despite other customers still eating). However a restaurant (almost opposite the Pizzeria) run by a Belgium and Scottish couple took us in -- they have a charming enclosed eating area at the rear of the property. In the end, we didn't eat in Lauzerte's upper square restaurants or visit the bars. Lunch times are also strict, mainly 11 - 1pm. Basically, plan for shopping and eating within the customary times. We ended up shopping at the supermarket just outside of Lauzerte.

Lovely spot with lovely hosts

5 of 5
This was a great place for us with our young family pool and surrounds were well maintained, Patrick and Arienne were very accommodating and helpful. The dog, the alpacas and llamas were all of interest to the kids and Patrick was very patient! It wasn’t too much of a drive to the supermarket or bakery etc though a car is definitely a requirement. Gites themselves were great for holiday some cobwebs and dust when we arrived but nothing too major and certainly not an issue. Lots of flys so be prepared to get the swatter out (conveniently one is provided!) I would definitely recommend this for a relaxing holiday.
