Beautiful cottage in a wonderful location

5 of 5
Me and my husband, along with his parents and our two lively Jack Russell's, have just returned from 2 weeks at the Vines Cottage, and we're missing it already! The cottage is beautifully appointed with a well equipped kitchen, amazingly comfortable beds and quality bed linen and towels are also provided. The complimentary wine made using grapes from some of the vines on the property was a lovely touch and very much appreciated; a bottle each of red and white was waiting for us on arrival and halfway through our stay when Richard came round to exchange the bed linen and towels he also brought us another bottle of each! The pool was great, and very welcome when we needed to cool down on the days spent lounging in the sun when we weren't sightseeing. Sadly we didn't get the hang of the pizza oven, we ended up with pizzas with soggy middles and crispy edges, but we did have fun making them! The pretty town of Pezenas is a 15 minute drive away and has some lovely old cobbled streets, boutique shops, bars and restaurants as well as a couple of good sized supermarkets. We also had a couple of trips out to Meze, which has a lovely beach on the lagoon and again is about 15 minutes by car from the cottage. A bit further away (only 40 minutes drive) is the beautiful little town of St-Guilhem-le-Desert, we'd definitely recommend a visit as it's one of the prettiest places we'd ever seen. Richard is a gracious host who was extremely helpful and had a genuine interest in getting to know us, as did his friendly, gentle dog Dougal. We had a truly wonderful holiday at the cottage and were glad to meet Richard, Dougal and, albeit briefly, Vaska the cat.

The location was ideal for exploring the area, we went to all the local beaches from Meze to Cap d'Agde. Overall we had a lovely relaxing holiday
