  • Lovely gite and good value.

The gite is exactly as it appears on the photos - with beautiful gardens (space for kids to play) and private space to sit out and eat outside. The kitchen is fully kitted out with everything you could want too (amazing cooker!) The location in the hamlet of Entrevergnes Haut is quiet (the neighbours do fix cars in their big garage out the front though - it didn't bother us at all but might bother those who want complete quiet)- and there are beautiful hill top and valley walks from the front door if you like a steady hike. There are errors on the HomeAway website which caused us a little misunderstanding when we arrived (there is no internet, towels and linens aren't provided) - but our hosts were very gracious and provided us with items we hadn't brought because of the mistake on the website. I'm sure this will be updated. The gite is perfectly placed to explore the granite area of Sidobre. There is a lake (reservoir) with a rocky beach 30 minutes away and local town Brassac is lovely for shopping etc.

  • As close as you can get to paradise!

We truly enjoyed our 3 weeks stay at this fantastic gîte. Perfectly situated by the river Tarn. The big terrace was heaven and we spent most of our time there, breakfast in the mornings, bbq in the evenings, wine drinking, river views are never boring, watching fishes jump, bird watching, strange animals, canoeists in the afternoon. There is always something happening around the river. We also tried some fishing but with less luck. Les Alvetats is also perfectly situated for exploring the surroundings. Albi is a beautiful town, small villages like Ambialet is nearby. Cordes sur Ciel is a must to visit. We took many wonderful tours by car, up in the mountains on narrow roads but with stunning views. Also took tours to Castres, Galliac and bought beautiful fresh Rose Lautrec garlics from a farmer outside Lautrec. There is a Carrefour in the next village for food shopping and a big Geant Casino not far away. The Marché Couvert in Albi is worth a visit. The gîte has everything you need but it has a quirky layout, 2 small bedrooms both with shower rooms. Main bedroom has just a washbasin. Bathroom a bit separate from bedroom. But only one tiny toilet for the gîte, without washbasin. Could be some problem if you are a big family. But this was for us a minor issue. If you like swimming but have some kind of mobility problems, there will be problems with access to the river from the garden. But this was solved by many lovely spots to find by the river, between the gîte and Ambialet, both for swimming and picinic. We have had one of our best vacations and would definitely return. We recommend Gîte Gavial to all who long for tranquility with a wonderful view, in one of the most beautiful parts of France. Corinne was also a helpful and lovely host. Hope your children will enjoy the boat. /E&U from Stockholm Sweden
