  • Great family holiday in a peaceful setting

We really enjoyed our 6 nights at this gite during October Half Term. We were met by the owner, Janette, who had left milk, butter, bread, wine and homemade shortbread and lemon drizzle cake, which was a wonderful welcome after a long drive! We were lucky to have gorgeous weather so we made the most of the huge shared garden, playing badminton and football with the kids and enjoying the sun! The pool was closed, which was a shame given the weather, but we hadn't really expected it to be open in late October. We did, however, find an excellent indoor water park close by (Les Antilles De Jonzac) which we liked so much we went twice! The gite itself had everything we could have needed, with a huge kitchen and a small private garden with a table so we could eat outside in the sun. The setting was lovely - it's in the countryside and was very peaceful. The only issue we had was that we couldn't get the radiators to come on (it was warm during the day but obviously cooled down at night) - in the event it didn't get cold enough for this to be a problem but if we'd been staying longer (the temperature dropped radically the day we left) I'd have raised this with Janette - it's probably just a switch somewhere but we couldn't find it. Overall, a great holiday and we may well go back!

  • Good location and comfortable place to stay

The property was lovely and quiet, with everything we needed for a restful stay. Nice to have fields of sunflowers next door to walk around and the lovely big garden for my daughter to play in, with the kids books and toys welcome additions. Good location to get to the sandy coastal beaches or visit interesting old towns and villages like Blaye, Pons and Saintes. Large supermarket is also in easy reach to get your provisions.
