Modern, Well Equipped, Walking Distance to Town Centre, 30 Minutes to Uzès!

We stayed for 2 weeks with our son, daughter in law and 12 month old grandson, and had a wonderful time. The villa is very well equipped, possibly the best equipped we have had in over 20 years of French summer holidays. To have two fridges is very useful! Three dining tables to choose from (inside, outside in a sheltered open veranda, and in a conservatory), with a small low round table to use on the sunny balcony for aperitif, and a nice set of low table and chairs in a pergola located within a group of shrubs and trees (although during our stay there were too many mosquitos to use it). The heated pool is compact with an easy to use mechanical cover, and has a very comfortable set of poolside loungers and small table. The loungers are finished with comfortable soft plastic mesh, so no messy cushions are needed. The interior is floored with large white smooth finish tiles, and this, together with the general layout of the living area, was ideal for our 12 month old grandson, who could crawl around or play to his hearts content in what was a very spacious area. The pool, at about 5 feet maximum depth, is also very friendly to adults handling a baby in the water. 10 minute walk away with child in buggy is the centre of Méjannes-le-Clap, with its shops and restaurants, including a boulangerie (open mornings only) and well stocked Utile minimarket (also sells bread and some viennoiserie). We particularly recommend L'Italiano Pizza restaurant where we ate twice - very good pizza with a wide variety of choices, very generous with the toppings and a baby highchair as well. An easy 30 minutes drive away is the delightful town of Uzès - make sure you go to the Saturday market (more stalls than the Wednesday market). Saint Quentin-la-Poterie (on the way to Uzès) is also well worth a visit. Both have many good restaurants.

Pretty & Cool Village House - a great base for Exploring

This is an old stone house on the edge of a historic, fortified village. It's a peaceful location, and villagers will more likely greet you with a 'bonjour' than not. The house is well equipped, tastefully decorated and furnished; it stayed relatively cool despite 30+ outside temperatures. We liked the choice of outside seating areas that allowed us to choose sun or shade. It's a good road to Uzes, where there's plenty of hustle and bustle if you prefer, and some great old buildings and little individual shops. We had longer days out with trips to the Pont du Gard, Ardeche Gorge, Nimes, Avignon, Arles, Agde and Sete, as well as lots of drives around the local area. Still feel like we barely skimmed the surface. A great house, fascinating area - yes, we'd hope to go back one day.
