  • Provence - off the beaten track

We had a short, enjoyable week in Provence here in Piponcet. It's a wonderful quiet retreat - off and back from the road in a quiet area of Provence. The nearest village is Banon at 7km where you can pick up the essentials. Forcalquier is the nearest big town 25km away. The house has a lot of character and a quirky layout: 2 bedrooms in the main section and a third in the attached "wing". The house is very well-equipped and comfortable with an excellent speaker system and relaxing lounge. Likewise the kitchen is large and well equipped. The pool is a good size and there is plenty of room outside to kick back. There's even table tennis if you fancy reliving the youth club years! The internet was occasionally slow but there is phone coverage to bridge any gaps. One other feature worth mentioning is the night sky above Piponcet. Stripped of light pollution, the sky at night is mesmerising in all its wonder. Also worth visiting in the area: Isle Sur La Sorgue (great Sunday market), Gorges du Vedron/Lac de Sainte Croix, Rousillon, Gordes.

  • A great gite and an excellent host.

A very comfortable gite with a superb view from the terrace. Good walking country with the nearby Vieux Noyers abandoned village very interesting and with good views - plenty of useful information and maps in the gite. Francoise, the owner, was very helpful to us, especially when our luggage was lost by Air France. Thank you for a memorable stay.
