This year we were joined by our grown up, growing and extended family. Our choice of region and accommodation provided a brilliant holiday - living proof that quintessential France is not a myth. The chateau and its grounds are superb. Lovely spaces for a large family group. The kitchen and eating areas gave us a chance to prepare outstanding local produce and splash the wine. (We had a wine tasting evening one night, when Thierry the local vintner brought over some fine samples and offered tips on reflective slurping. The pool and other recreational facilities were excellent - varied and well maintained. The houses and grounds are also big enough for periods away from one another; the need for space in a group holiday shouldn't be underestimated. CDLV has lots of interesting spaces both indoors and out in the grounds - maintained to a rustic high standard. Towns and villages were easily accessible and rich in culture. Large chateaux are not far from a full range of excellent shops and services. Lovely cafes in the local towns were a favourite of ours; you can still experience a strong coffee within the range of wafted Gauloises, while shopping for your morning baguette. The paths around the estate are perfect for playing boule. We took along our own trophy which was awarded at the end of a great week. It was a highlight of an excellent holiday where we were well provided for and looked after impeccably.

Very spacious - 5 bedrooms and great location in the centre of the old town but also you were in the countryside within two minute's cycle. Saumur is a lovely town and the area has a great deal to offer. Gilles, the owner, is very friendly and helpful.

                                                                        Superb Holiday Home

A delightful house, we really enjoyed staying here. It is atmospheric and full of beautiful things, so very different from many holiday rentals. The renovation has been sympathetic and is very much as represented on the website. We found it to be extremely comfortable. No corners have been cut with " cheap and cheerful " furnishings, everything is of very good quality. We particularly enjoyed the vintage pieces of furniture and, for example, the Picquot ware tea set. 2 gorgeous Le Corbusier tables to use and enjoy will perhaps help you get the idea of the remarkable standards found at " Le Logis ". Beds and linens were very comfortable with a good supply of top quality towels which are professionally laundered along with sheets and duvet covers. The kitchen is extremely well equipped with no corners cut but we did miss a mug for my husband's tea as he was not so happy using the lovely tea bowls. We travel with our own coffee machine and espresso size cups so it wasn't a big problem. The house was prepared to the highest standard and was immaculately clean. We felt we were " on holiday " from the moment we arrived as the layout is so very different. There are 30 stairs in total to the three floors but we did not find them to be a problem. You soon get used to thinking of this slightly different way of life and leave things on the right floor ! It should be noted that I am not at all nimble and cannot see very well as I am awaiting eye surgery but had no difficulty with the stairs. I found them rather fun & it's really only one extra flight compared to home! One thing we'd like to see is a better shower on the middle floor. The existing one is adequate but not of the standard of everything else. It was 38C when we arrived but we found the bedroom on the middle floor to be cool and comfortable. The house felt welcoming and it seems as if the renovation has been carried out by someone who loves the property and who has a trained eye for getting things right. We were captivated by " Le Logis " and consequently spent more time in than we were anticipating. The top garden with adjacent kitchenette was a lovely spot to sit morning and evenings with coffee or a sundowner and take in the views. Montsoreau is attractive and permits easy access to many delights. Our particular favourite was "The Priory Abbey of Notre Dame de Cunault" beautifully situated in a riverside village. In closing I would like to offer my Congratulations to the owner.
