  • Nice apartment in the heart of the French pyrenees. Compact but comfortable.

We are 2 adults with an 11 and 8 yr old. We found the apartment clean and with comfortable beds and comfy sofa. There's a bedroom with twin beds and a single futon chair that you can turn into a bed if say you had 3 kids, and a double bedroom. Kitchen is small and basic, has a hob and grill/microwave but no oven, there's a washing machine but not a tumble dryer, but there's an airer. The cupboards are well stocked with kitchen equipment and crockery etc. There's a coffee machine and a stove top perculator. Large dining table. Shower works very well, we didn't use the bath. You're situated in the town so only need to walk 1 minute to the shops, nice bakery fresh bread and curious vending machine outside that they put that days leftover baguettes in when the shop closes (which my 8 Yr old found hilarious! ). There's a few more shops, restaurants, cafe bars, (and looks like in winter ski school and related shops). Also of course a market. Theres a lovely swimming pool with lifeguard on site of the apartment and squash court. There looked to be a little indoor play area too for younger kids. However these are only open 1pm til 7pm each day and are municipal so open to non residents and you have to pay to use. However we did not find it overcrowded. The thermal spa at the other end of the town, 5mins walk, is amazing, it cost about 26 euros for a family ticket and well worth it! There's also treatments, massage etc available. There's of course a boule pit in the town which we used as is only a couple of minutes from the apartment and had people playing late into the evening. We used the apartment as a base to watch the Tour de France which we saw from the top of the Col de Tourmelet which is a 15mins drive away. Luz st sauveur is about 10 mins drive away and a bit larger. Local auberge Chez Rosette was very nice 5mins drive away and serves the local cabbage and ham stew. We didn't manage to try the auberge at Le Lienz but it looked amazing. There's also horse riding there, 5mins drive away. The apartment has lots of local info and timed walks and Peter was very helpful with his local knowledge. Recommend the Pic du Midi cable car, expensive but worth it. Also the lake Especieres at Gavarnie, you drive up and up until the top of the 'Col du Tents', there's a car park the just walk 5 or 10ins and you're there. Its very beautiful and you can swim, or alternatively walk round it in about 1 hr. Lots of other places around to visit, but we only had a week!
