  • Well equipped and tranquil gite.

We really enjoyed our stay. Our initial impression was that the gite was very remote, but actually, it was only a few minutes to the nearest town, and the situation of the gite meant that it was completely tranquil. Victoria has provided everything you need, including toilet paper and washing up liquid! The bed was very comfortable, and there was English TV for the evenings. We actually ate at the house frequently during our week as it was so pleasant. Fantastic walks from the door, and easy accessibility by car to Macon, Beaune and our favourite, Cluny. We had some excellent degustations and bought some what we hope will be good wines to be savoured over the year. We would happily return for more exploration of the area. The weather was also superb - wall to wall sunshine!

  • Lovely cottage

We enjoyed a wonderful stay at La Dependance. Ellie is an excellent host and we were very appreciative of her offer of a lift from Cluny when we encountered issues renting our hire car. Thanks also to Richard for the lift back. The cottage is situated in a lovely rural location with fantastic views and local walks. We visited the chateau at Cormatin on a rare rainy day, took a tour round the Abbey in Cluny and had a very pleasant walk south from the local hilltop village of La Vineuse, stopping off at a picturesque lake in the middle of the forest west of Le Martray. At the cottage, wildlife was abundant with honey buzzards, red-backed shrikes and many butterflies to be seen. The pool was perfect and we spent most afternoons relaxing here. Thanks Ellie (and Bunny)! Alex and Nancy, Hertfordshire, UK
