Unforgettable!

5 of 5
Off the beaten track, but near enough to walk to the boulangerie in the tiny village of Viozan, this is a little paradise. The spacious gite is beautiful, with everything you could possibly need, including a fantastic welcome pack of food and wine. It's the little touches everywhere that make this place stand out - the robes for the hot tub, the home-made jams and chutneys and the many kitchen gadgets for cooks are only three examples. There are extensive and well tended grounds with an orchard, sitting areas in both sun and shade, and a fabulous pool. What makes the gite extra special is the care and attention that Hazel and Peter offer - they are the perfect hosts, managing to be always there when needed but invisible when not! From coping with the non-arrival of our luggage and lending us clothes, to cooking us a wonderful meal on our first evening and recommending countless places to visit, we couldn't have wished for better friends. We had a glorious late August holiday, spending our time relaxing and enjoying the gite and the immediate locality, spotting butterflies and birds. However, it's only an hour or so to the foothills of the Pyrenees, which can be seen on many days. Tomatoes and figs fresh from the garden, a glass of wine by the pool, kites soaring overhead and perfect peace. It's exactly what we hoped for and much more besides. Thank you, Hazel and Peter - we'll be back!

A lovely house in a beautiful secluded location

5 of 5
A lovely Frech house, well maintained and restored. There is plenty of room for a big group and a huge dinning table inside allowing the whole party to enjoy breakfast inside. The bedrooms are all spacious and beds nice and comfortable. In the evening when it got a little cooler the lounge was a great place to sit and relax to enjoy some local wine or unusual local craft beers. Outside to pool is large and, as a bonus heated. There is a vast garden for the kids to explore and as advertised, we did see a curious deer. The house is very well equipped with plenty of dinner ware and cutlery, even for a large party. We were told to help ourselves to the abundance of fruit on the surrounding trees and even make apple, pear and plum pies. The local town has all you need and is easily walkable in under an hour. It has two or three restaurants and a good supermarket. The communication with the owner was great and Luke answered all questions that we had.
