  • Great apartment in a superb location made for a wonderful holiday
    5 of 5

We have stayed in the area on holiday for the last few years but this was the best yet. The apartment is spacious and very well equipped. The outside terrace had a great view of the Canal du Midi and was a perfect place to sit and relax both during the day and evening. Yes we agree with earlier reviews that the bedrooms are a little snug, but don't be put off, they are only for sleeping in. The rest of the apartment makes up for it with oodles of space. Capestang has all you need for day to day living and the Sunday market is particularly good for fresh fruit, meat and veg, as well as a good selection of cooked food. The fancy cakes from the boulangerie in the town square were awesome. The beach is within easy reach by car and of course Carcassonne is always worth a day out. As a serious cyclist I was in heaven. Loads of quiet lanes to cycle on as well as the traffic free canal paths stretching for miles each way. Cycle to Le Someil for the best choice of canal side lunch restaurants in the whole area.. All in all we had a great two weeks holiday in a great apartment in a great location.

  • A little gem of a holiday gite for relaxing and exploring the Canal du Midi area
    5 of 5

We (a couple in our 60s) have recently returned from a marvellous 10 day holiday at Le Petit Saint Nazaire. Wendy and Pat are the most welcoming and thoughtful owners. We arrived to find a generous welcome pack of bread, fruit, milk, butter, cheese, orange juice and wine and Wendy and Pat on hand if needed but give visitors space as well. Gite 2 is equipped everything needed for self -catering and the furnishings are very pretty and airy. We spent most of our time reading and relaxing on our little terrace, dipping into the pool at regular intervals as it was very hot in early July and the good-sized pool was enticing. The pool is surrounded by a well kept garden with several seating places in the shade and surrounded by fields of sunflowers, especially lovely at sunset. Wendy and Pat have organised the terraces for the gites so that you have privacy but don’t feel enclosed – in fact we very much enjoyed watching the 2 small boys belonging to the nice German couple in Gite 1 enjoying the pool when they returned from hot trips out. The Canal du Midi area around is very interesting with lots to explore and enjoy, and Montpellier, Sete, Narbonne and Bezier are all in easy reach for day trips. Beaches also an easy drive but we specially enjoyed swimming in the river at Bize-Minervois, a very pretty little village with restaurants and a lovely natural beach on the side of the river. Capestang is a short drive away and has a selection of bars and restaurants and a pharmacy, and supermarkets also very near. (As it was World Cup and Wimbledon finals week we were also grateful for the UK TV channels!) In short Le Petet Saint Nazaire a perfect place for couples like us but also young families as well to relax, enjoy exploring the Canal du Midi area and indulge in lovely local wines and food. Thank you so much Wendy and Pat for a lovely holiday and your friendly care - we’ll be back soon with some grandchildren in tow!
