Light, airy, clean apartment, superb location

Having spent a week in this light, tastefully decorated apartment, we can highly recommend it. The warm wooden floors, skylights over the living and kitchen areas, and floor to ceiling glass balcony doors from which you can look down on to the lake give it a wonderful ambience. The lake has lots of areas suitable for picnicking, swimming & boating; water birds, reeds and aquatic plants. There is heaps to do in the immediate locality, eg hiking trails, apiary, Fort Saint-Antoine fromagerie, l’abbye de Montbenoît. Many alpine plants grow in the area. The following overview of the apartment is not an exhaustive description, but highlights aspects of it which stood out & appealed. The web-site inventory, which lists all the chattels, fully accorded with what was available in the apartment. The kitchen is well equipped with all the modern cons needed and is highly functional. The appliances include a dishwasher, a coffee machine, kettle, and micro-wave. The conduction stove with touch top controls is great for speedy cooking. The main bedroom & smaller 2 bed (single bed and trundle bed) room both have nice views onto the forested mountains behind Malbuisson. There is ample storage in the main bedroom & a full length mirror fronts the built-in wardrobe. The double bed (1.4m x 2m) is very comfortable. The second bedroom has a set of drawers, & full-length mirror fronted cupboard. The bathroom contains a spacious shower box, with a good shower, heated towel rail, washing machine and ample storage. The entry area has lots of roomy, convenient storage. The main living area has pleasing to the eye, interior angles which follow the shape of the roof (as does second bedroom). The couch and lazy-boy recliner with foot stool are comfortable. The flat screen TV with integrated in DVD / CD player worked perfectly. The entire apartment has ample & excellent lighting (for readers). The location of the apartment is convenient to both the lake & the village. It is just two minutes by foot from the apartment down to the lake. Three to four minutes in the other direction are the local supermarket (wide selection of products), the village bakery, post office, tourist office & a number of good restaurants. Apartment has off-street, b4 door parking (garage available), is on floor 2, well lit, wide access staircase, used only by apt 12 & apt beneath. The owners of the flat were helpful, hospitable, & welcoming . They speak French, English & some German.

A wonderful week at Villers du Lac!

What a wonderful week we had in this beautiful place with magnificent views over the river into Switzerland! Sitting outside having dinner with a view that would be difficult to beat in any restaurant. Sonia and Gus are delightful hosts, accessible as they live on the other side of the property, but never intrusive. We enjoyed spending time with them and practising our French and they their English, which was great fun! The bells rang out over the valley at 10.30 every morning, reminiscient of the 'Sound of Music', creating a wonderful ambiance. The properties location meant that we could pop across to Switzerland every day, so this was a great (and much less expensive) place from which to explore. Coming back to the apartment at night (except when we stayed at Grindlewald for one evening) was lovely and relaxing. The apartment is clean, well equipped and we would have no hesitation in recommending it to any one! However the drive is a little steep so wouldn't suit older or infirm people in our opinion! The local village is adequetly served by all basic ammenities including a well stocked super market complete with fuel station at reasonable prices. Check out the boulangerie/ cafe which we found charming. All in all a great little apartment with stunning views! Highly recommend Nigel & Carol Tarplin Nuneaton Uk
