  • Beautiful house in Port en Bessin and a great location for local sight seeing

I really have no negative or even neutral comments about our stay, everything was perfect. We are a family of 3 with a young baby who enjoyed the house as much as we did and there was a second bedroom with a travel cot set up for us when we arrived. There is plenty of space at the house and the open plan kitchen/diner is a lovely area to enjoy breakfasts and evening meals. Port en Bessin is a beautiful town with several restaurants and gift shops as well as the more practical shops such as a small supermarket and bakery etc. I recommend a visit to the fish market at the port, just a minutes walk from the house, where you can buy all sorts of fresh fish and shell fish. The location is ideal for sight seeing with the Omaha beach just a 10 minute drive away, there are numerous museums, as well as day trips to Bayeux and Caen, all just a short drive away. We visited Mont St Michel one day which was a little over an hours drive through very pleasant countryside. If you are travelling from UK on Brittany ferries then the house is ~50 minute drive from the port. In summary I cannot recommend this property enough for a couple or small family.

  • What an absolutely lovely place!

This was the start of a 4 week stay in France, 4 weeks in 4 different locations. We, two senior couples from Canada, all agreed this one was our favourite. The cottage, apart from being utterly charming and picturesque, had everything we needed. It was clean, well equipped, with two nice bedrooms with comfortable beds. Having a toilet both upstairs and downstairs was important to us. It was a most relaxing place to come home to after a busy day of sightseeing. We made daytrips to Honfleur, which we loved, drove through Pays d’Auge, visited Juno Beach, Arromanches-les-Bains, the Canadian war cemetery near Caen, Bayeux of course, and Mont Saint-Michel. We did our grocery shopping in Bayeux, but bought our bread (baguettes) at the bakery in Balleroy. This is a property in the deep country side and as such not suitable if one would like to go out at night. We would certainly recommend it to friends.
