Make A Holiday Rental House in Le Martinet, France, Your Home Away From Home

Le Martinet is a small village set just within the boundaries of the Cevennes National Park in the south of France. Being a small village, there are no hotels to speak of, and so if you want to stay here, you should consider a holiday rental house in Le Martinet. Well furnished, fully equipped and comfortable, it is a home away from home that you can either spend time relaxing in, or as a base from which to explore the area at large.

Things to Do on Holiday in Le Martinet, France

There is a wide choice of activities to choose from during a holiday in le Martinet, so you can dispel any fears of being bored! You could take a quiet walk in the country in the morning, and follow it up with a cycle ride in the afternoon. The next day, you could perhaps take a half day’s horse riding trek, or spend some time by a river, fishing. The more adventurous might like to venture out to the rivers Ardeche and Ceze, where canoeing through the canyons is very popular. If this wasn’t enough, there is always golf, tennis, swimming and the French game of boules to try!

Places to Visit on Holiday in Le Martinet, France

The area surrounding your self catering accommodation in le Martinet is rich in attractions and places to visit. In fact, you might find that even if you stayed for a month, you would have barely scratched the surface! If you were to do a few things, though, then you could begin with visiting the town of Uzes. As well as having medieval origins, with many buildings and monuments still intact, it also has something for the kids in the form of a Sweet Museum! Other places to visit include the quaint town of Anduze, the Prafrance bamboo garden and La Roque sur Ceze which is described as one of the most beautiful villages in France.

Weather in Le Martinet, France

You can expect the weather in this part of France to be constantly warmer than the weather back in the UK at a similar time of year. This is due to its Mediterranean climate, which means there are warm summers and mild winters. July and August are the hottest months, and temperatures can top 30 degrees Celsius on the hottest days. Rainfall rarely exceeds 40mm during this time. The winter months still see a respectable day time high of 13 degrees achieved, and rainfall comes in at just under the 100mm mark. Whatever time of year you decide to take a holiday rental house in Le Martinet, you should see plenty of sun, as it boasts 300 days of sunshine a year.

Travel to Le Martinet, France

If you have decided on a holiday in le martinet, then the next step is to work out your travel plans. There are two viable alternatives, and these are to drive or to fly. Driving does take some time, with a ten hour journey from the port at Calais, but gives you the car to use during your stay at the self catering accommodation in Le Martjnet. Flying on the other hand is quicker, and you can use the nearby airport at Nimes (FNI). Although flight choices are limited, the regular Ryanair service out of London Luton (LTN) serves most people well.

A wonderful house in a beautiful village

5 of 5
We have just returned from a magical holiday in the tranquil village of Cassignole. Marianne was a wonderful, generous host and nothing was too much trouble. The house was clean, comfortable, fully equipped and full of french charm. The swimming pool had fantastic views and proved very popular with our children. The surrounding area was spectacular and we particularly loved visiting Nimes, Uzes, Pont du Gard, Avignon and Vezenobres. Thank you for a memorable stay!

This house is a delight

5 of 5
Sarah's house is a delight. A comfortable place to stay in a lovely area. The Provecals across the road were ready and waiting for us when we arrived and Mme showed us round. We don't speak a lot of French and she speaks little English, but we managed just fine. As we were in a pretty small car we also used the garage underneath the house to keep it cool. Plenty of inside space, especially as there were just two of us, and the outside spaces are also so useful. The terrace at the rear gets sunshine for most of the day and is a great place to watch the stars and listen to the owls at night. The front terrace gets the morning sun for breakfast, and then provides shade for the heat of the day. Sarah has many books, CD's and DVD's in the house, but just note that there is no TV. This wasn't a requirement for us, but you may not realise this when reading the description above. I especially enjoyed reading Carlos' recipe book which I only discovered towards the end of my stay - some yummy ideas in it! Unlike another reviewer, we had no problem with the internet, but you do need to follow Sarah's instructions and ensure everything is plugged in. Chamborigaud has everything you need with several places to buy supplies, a wonderful Sunday market, and lots of choice for eating out. We particularly enjoyed the Hotel Cevennes where you can get a bargain daily special for 15 Euros including wine! We also were lucky enough to experience the entertainment in the village - a couple of evening shows in the local park - great fun. The house is in a great location - we made easy trips to Uzes for the Saturday market, Barjac for the flea market, and drives down the Ardeche, Tarn and Jonte Gorges. We also took Sarah's suggestions for some evening walks close to the house - the Viaduct is very impressive. Other day trips that we really enjoyed were to the Cavern Pont D'Arc - just amazing, and the Aven d'Orgnac Cavern - where our English speaking guide was brilliant. The Chateau at Portes was open at the weekend and is certainly worth a visit. Just outside this on the drive back to Chamborigaud there is a sign for a honey producer. As we keep bees ourselves we went to take a look. It is quite a trek, and the road gets ever narrower but we finally made it and were able to taste several types of honey and of course purchase some to bring home. We would thoroughly recommend this house - thanks so much Sarah.
