  • A lovely place to arrive and a restful one to stay

Ruth was so welcoming with the key already in the door. We later met her husband Ian, brilliant raconteur to say the least. The gite was so tastefully decorated and could not have been better. Lounge and dining area complete with inglenook fireplace were equipped with everything needed for our week’s stay. The large ensuite bedroom was up stairs. Really comfortable double bed and a single in a corner. Plenty of storage. The shower room was quaint well equipped and clean. The swimming pool, set into the lawn in front of the three gites, was just right for a cooling swim, with sun beds around it. The walk into Montignac was flat and easy and the selection of shops and restaurants really good. The visitor centre and the entrance to the Lascaux caves went just past the gites. A brilliant place to stay in Montignac and our Hibiscus gite was simply one to return to and I’m sure we will.

  • An excellent location with very friendly owners

The cottage was ideally placed for visiting the various prehistoric sites in the Vesere Valley, for example the caves at Lascaux, for exploring the nearby towns, such as Sarlat and for enjoying the countryside and attractions around the Dordogne. Our cottage was very private even though there were many other guests staying in the adjacent properties. The swimming pool was lovely and we never had to share it with anyone else. One thing we didn't like was that the bathroom and WC are both downstairs, with doors leading directly from the kitchen, which is not ideal from the point of view of hygiene.
