Bar-sur-Loup is a beautiful old village perched high on a rock outcrop overlooking the River Loup on the Cote d’Azur - Riviera. The old village layout, a circle centred on the 13th century Bar-sur-Loup Chateau, is still maintained, with large sections of the original defensive walls still clearly visible. As cars are forbidden in Bar-sur-Loup, there is very little that disturbs the peace, and when combined with the beautiful rocky scenery of the Loup Valley, it is very easy to relax in a Bar-sur-Loup apartment or holiday home.

A very pleasant and private retreat

4 of 5
We very much enjoyed our stay at the property. It was fairly easy to find, and we quickly figured out the best way to get in and out of it with the car. We were a party of 5 for 3 days and a party of 3 for a further 3 days and even with 5 people the house did not feel small in any way. The swimming pool was a welcome touch - though even on a hot summer's evening the water was refreshingly cold initially. The location also allows for little excursions to many interesting places or to simply curl up with a good book. One morning, a couple of hours before we had to leave the house for an appointment, the front door lock would not work. We had trouble making contact with the PureAzur number, went down to the village, got the number of Sophie and Antoine and called both. Antoine answered, came in the next 30 minutes or so and fixed the lock. Very good service once we got through. On the 3rd day of our stay, despite following all the instructions to keep the house cool, we gave up and bought two cheap fans from LeClerc in Vence to help us deal with the heat in the night as we just could not sleep with it being so hot. If the house does need something it is a couple of movable fans. The rest is wonderful and the view from the sit out just past the living rooms was spectacular. It was as advertised - it had what the listing said, and the place was clean and well maintained. All in all, we would definitely recommend the place to people.

Absolutely magical!

5 of 5
Wow!! This is the most magical setting for a holiday we've ever experienced, in 13 years travelling as a group of 8 adults and 9 children (this year they're 10-16 years old). You feel like you're living in a forest, with views of mountains and hilltop villages all around. But it's not at all remote and you can easily explore stunning villages like Gourdon, Saint Paul de Vence, Le Bar sur loup, as well as Valbonne and the wonderful coast. The really beautiful stream where you can paddle or jump in off the bank is literally outside the gate and together with a fabulous football pitch, table tennis table, trampoline and boules pitch, it adds an extra dimension to the activities available. Liesel has thought of everything you could need and the outside sitting and eating areas are so comfortable. We've never returned to a property in all our 13 years travelling together, but we're booking to go back to Riveloup next year!
