Langon Holiday Homes

Make a holiday rental home or stone cottage in Langon, France your home away from home. Langon, France

Langon is the name of several communes in France, and this article relates to a village in the Ille-et-Vilaine department of the country, which lies close to the border of the Pays de Loire region. Langon has a long and interesting history, and also offers plenty for culture and nature lovers. Accommodation in the village is of a good standard, and a great location means that a series of day trips can be enjoyed when staying in Langon’s holiday chateaus and apartments.

Things to do in Langon, France

Brittany is often chosen as a holiday destination due to its unspoilt countryside, and the area around Langon is firmly regarded as some of the most beautiful greenery in the region. Walking, hiking, mountain biking and horse riding are just some of the many activities to be enjoyed amongst the dense woodland and rolling hills, and a few kilometres away the Vilaine River offers plenty in the way of water-borne action.

Human activity in Langon can be traced all the way back to the Mesolithic era, and archaeological evidence of this can be seen in several places around the local area. More recent history is on show in some of the old buildings around the centre of the village, including the Chapelle of Sainte-Agathe – which has parts that date all the way back to the end of the 2nd century.

Langon has a decent array of amenities for a relatively small village, and those enjoying a self-catering holiday in the region will not go hungry in the evening or have a lack of somewhere to stock up their food supplies during the daytime.

Places to visit on holiday in Langon, France

Langon is well positioned from which to enjoy a whole number of day trips around the north-west of the country. Rennes, the capital of Brittany, is just 45km away and is a thriving hive of history and culture which also has something to offer the more modern-minded visitor. Closer to home, Messac (16km) is the nearest town to Langon and the best option if you want to find a great restaurant within fairly close reach by taxi.

Weather in Langon, France

The average temperatures in Langon are a notch above the temperatures in the UK, but the weather conditions remain largely the same. This means warm and sunny summer months, a pleasant spring, a mild and occasionally wet autumn and a fairly cold winter. July is traditionally the hottest month and a great month for a holiday in Langon.

Travel to Langon, France

Rennes – Saint Jacques Airport (RNS) is the nearest airport to Langon, being situated 45km to the north of the village. The airport receives a limited number of flights from UK destinations, so it is advised to book well in advance if you plan to fly to France. Flybe are the main UK operators to Rennes.

An excellent bright and well furnished property with everything you could want for a holiday let.

5 of 5
This is a lovely property, spacious and well furnished with everything you could need for a holiday let. The garden is beautiful and there is an ample supply of outdoor chairs and loungers. The owners, Fran and Rick, who live on site, are extremely helpful and nothing is too much trouble for them. They are a mine of information about the area and this helped us greatly. We would rate this property as outstanding.

Beautiful barn in a lovely location

5 of 5
We enjoyed a marvellous stay in Woodland View Barn. This is such a beautiful area of France with too much to explore in the time we had. The accommodation was excellent, very well presented, spotlessly clean and had everything we needed. We wiled away many hours on the fabulous balcony, enjoying croissants for breakfast, lounging around reading books, listening to the birds and taking in the starry night skies. It was a joy to wander into the local village for our bread and croissants in the mornings. We even managed a few short cycle rides (despite getting on in years!) to the beautiful river on the bikes supplied. We had a superb holiday and will be recommending it to all our family and friends. Thank you for your wonderful hospitality and we very much hope to return soon.
