  • Fantastic cottage in lovely area :-)

Great find, well situated on the edge of a village - close enough to walk in but far enough to not know it's there. Cottage is very well equipped, has everything you need for a week away, not only has it got everything but it has the little extra's like salt and pepper - which doesn't sound a lot but makes a difference. Fixtures and fittings are all of a very high standard and can't say we wanted for anything or felt that anything was missing. As it was Oct/Nov there was an ample and much appreciated supply of logs for the wood burner - replenished daily. We arrived late on a Sunday night and we asked if a few groceries could be picked up for us - which they were - we really appreciated that - thank you! Overall a great find outside of our usual holiday area but we'll definitely be back - thank you Mark & Sylvie - you've got a lovely gite - we are very jealous! Andrew, Katie & Oscar

  • Perfect “get away from it all” location.

We were a family of 8 adults - the grown up children and their partners using Dezie Manor for our annual holiday during a very hot (30+) summer. The location is idyllic - nestled within a forest area miles away from any urban noise. The dining area was excellent - it had a long table outside where we dined breakfast, lunch and dinner. We were never bothered by mosquitos the whole time as a breeze seemed to flow along the dining area situated under a protected canopy. The kitchen was well equipped (apart from knives which are always blunt in rentals) and had a brand new Weber bbq outside that we used several times. The accomodation was excellent in the main areas adjacent to the kitchen and air-conditioned - but the lack of air-con in the bedrooms was a bit of a hardship - particularly for those whose rooms were on the top floor - gathered up the heat of the day. The pool was a huge plus and we spent most days lounging there in between food and beverages. As a keen cycling family we cycled most days in the morning - it was superb - quiet with few cars. I need to mention the (fruit?) flies - they were a bit of a constant irritation (presumably due to the forest) everywhere outside except inside and around the dining and pool area where miraculously they stayed away? However, this review can’t finish without mentioning the amazing games area - table tennis and table football were a nightly source of entertainment - a huge hit with us but perhaps not the other guests staying in adjacent properties who had to endure some of our more raucous competitive post dinner sport - so we would probably have preferred to be totally isolated from other people! The local village - 5km away had a great supermarket and local artisans - butchers, bakers and regular markets that would satisfy any culinary request. We dined out a couple of times - most famously at the regular gastronomic nocturne events held at nearby villages which was fabulous. Versus other places we have stayed in across Europe this ranks highly and is excellent value for money. This would suit a family looking for total peace and relaxation in a country setting.
