The apartment is one of many in several similar buildings along the Rue de la Republique. Though the building is showing its age, the apartment is newly fitted out, very bright and clean. The owner Sylvain met us and made sure we knew where everything was and how it worked. He was available throughout our stay via his mobile phone, though we did not need to contact him except to check on arrangements for returning keys and passes on leaving. Free car parking in gated part of the harbour close by. Toulon has a lot to offer with several bays, beaches, a cabin lift up the mountain, squares, fountains and parks. Excellent public transport, though most bus services finish quite early evening. It is a definite advantage to speak French here - we did not see many English people during our stay. There are very many good restaurants throughout the town, including a strip along the harbour front just below the apartment. Large local market 6 days a week in Cours Lafayette which begins just across the road from the apartment building and carries on for 2-300 metres. Lots of boulangeries, and a Carrefour supermarket in the nearby Stade Mayol centre. We would have no hesitation in coming back!
Yanick and Christine were such charming and friendly hosts. We couldn't have asked for more. Thank you both. The views and area are stunning with so many beautiful villages nearby. The studio is just right for two with everything you need. An excellent walking area for those fit enough!
