Perfect situation, well equipped, lovely owners!

5 of 5
We watched the house taking shape, Cedric sent us pictures of before and afterwards, and we booked before the pool was in, but he didn't let us down! The house stays remarkably cool, even when it is 35 degrees outside, due to its location halfway up the side of a hill. The views are amazing, but it 's position is so secluded, if you were looking for the place to get an all over tan this would be it! Everything you could need is in the house, and the air con, which we only used at night, is so quiet you really cannot hear it. Each bedroom has its own shower room and separate loo, so no bathroom queues. The pool is about a metre or so deep all over, there is no shallow end, so not for tiny children, but it is well fenced off. It's situation means lots of wild life, waking to bird song, rabbits in the morning, deer later in the day, though you will be lucky to see these, the crickets are deafening, and to my shock a grass snake shot out of the hedge by the kitchen, was panicked by the sight of us and quickly disappeared, we did not see it again. Tarn et Garonne is a bit like an English Cotswolds, but hillier. There are great local markets, hilltop medieval towns, canoeing in the rivers and great walking country. There are a couple of supermarkets at Negrepelisse where you can stock up on everything you need, and many local restaurants, can particularly recommend Gorges D'Aveyron in Montricoux. Cedric and Maeva are very responsive hosts, and there very quickly if you have a problem (we had a shower tray that didn't drain, and was sorted within hours). Thank you for giving us such a special holiday!

Beautiful home and location

5 of 5
Stayed here for 1 week with a young child as part of a road trip through Western France, and we fell in love with this place. The location is stunning, so peaceful that coming home to our rural village in England it sounds noisy in comparison! The house is surrounded by hills and woodland, where you can sit and watch nature all day, we even saw deer running through the trees in the distance. The garden is shared with the owner who live here too, but we never felt uncomfortable or intruded. It feels very private hidden away behind the gates down the long drive. There were various play things like a slide for our daughter to share as well and of course the stunning pool, which is completely for private use. It is a heated pool so even on cooler days you can enjoy a swim. Our daughter really enjoyed the pool so it felt very safe for younger children too, easily accessed by steps into a shallow end. Also the wooden decking was nice to have underfoot rather than tiles, so no slipping. There is also now a shaded terrace accessed from the side door, above the pool where you can sit out either on the outside sofa or eat dinner on the large table. There is also a BBQ with adorable cosy lighting with again another seating area downstairs from the pool area. The house itself is beautiful, especially the living room. It is very big with a large comfortable sofa to relax on, as well as a large log fire to keep you cosy on colder days. The first half our week was quite wet and cold so this was an added bonus. It made it very cosy with lots of wood to use. The kitchen has recently been updated as well to a gorgeous fitted modern kitchen with a large table in the centre for all the family. It really had everything you needed from a large American style fridge freezer, a dishwasher and washing machine which all worked perfectly. It felt very contemporary and clean. The bedrooms were a little older in style with darker beams so felt more traditional, but again they were very clean, cosy and comfortable. The 'bathroom' too was also very clean, with an abundance of towels, but note there is no bath here, just a shower so it is more like a wet room with a separate toilet, but this was not a problem for us or our little one. We highly recommend this house for a peaceful retreat. The owners are so lovely, warm and welcoming and we really hope to return here one day to see them all again!
