  • Quiet relaxing get-away in a great location

We had a wonderful holiday here! The property is in a brilliant location at the end of a quiet road, 5 mins walk away from the nearest beach. There is a small enclosed garden (perfect for pur children) and the sheltered patio and bbq are great for outside dining. The living space is basic but comfortable - the kitchen is very well-equipped, the beds are comfy and the shower is good. The property was spotlessly clean when we arrrived, and the check-in process was easy. We were met by our hosts who explained everything we needed to know, and we managed to communicate despite the fact that they do not speak much English and our French is not that great! The property is near to some fantastic beaches - vert bois and grand-village are great for surfing and body boarding - and st trojans is lovely and calm for the children to swim. If fact there are lovely beaches all over the island! The beach nearest the property is probably a bit rough for young children to swim, but is great for relaxing and playing in the sand. The only downside of our whole trip was that there are a lot of mosquitos - and i think this is a problem for the whole area, maybe due to the oyster beds. It is ok as long as you don't forget your insect repellent - but if the weather is hot, it is uncomfortable at night because you cant really leave the windows open. We were lucky as we only had 1 hot night, so not too much of a problem for us. I would consider bringing a portable fan if we return. All-in-all we had a wonderful stay at this property, and i would definitely come again or recommend to friends.

  • Delightful week on Isle D'oleron

A very grand house with beautiful outdoor space & only ten minutes walk from the beach at most. Lovely large kitchen and modern bathrooms. Cycle hire also only 10 mins away at local campsite so the whole holiday was possible without a car using the excellent cycle routes around the island. Nearby small town of Dolus has all available services - including a daily market as well as a weekly food fest which was great fun. Certainly a weeks worth of exploring on the Island and we left with a number of things we'd like to have done
