Things to do in La Norma
Although skiing is important there is still a lot to see in and around La Norma. Children are well catered for as it is accepted that they may not have the same interest or ability as the parents. There are many places nearby that can offer something away from the slopes. It may be walking or visiting the historical monuments but each area offers something different.
- Skiing and snow related activities are the main reasons people come to La Norma and it is still a peaceful and car free resort. For anyone with an interest in science there is an underground laboratory where research is being carried out on “the secrets of the universe”.
-Orelle is around a 20 minute drive away from La Norma and offers the chance to enjoy the area without skiing. There are trails that can be followed and maps are provided by the tourist office. There is a Baroque church to visit and each week a local farm –Grand Perron - allows visitors to go and try their produce.
The Weather in La Norma
As would be expected there is a lot of snow throughout the year and at times there can be fairly strong winds. The season normally runs from December through to April so about 110 days of skiing can be expected. A La Norma holiday chalet is a lovely place to stay when skiing and exploring.
Getting to La Norma
It is easy to get to holiday apartments in La Norma as it is close to a motorway, train station and not far from the Frejus tunnel. You can take a flight or Eurostar to Paris and then a journey on the TGV train to Modane. This will take four hours and although the idea of a hire car will be appealing, La Norma is car free. The nearest airport is actually Turin so this gives another option.
