Make a holiday rental apartment or villa in La Grand-Combe – Mont Lozere, France your home away from home

The region of La Grand-Combe is found in the Cevennes Mountains in the southeast of France’s Massif Central. Its location in the north of the Gard department of Languedoc-Roussillon means that a holiday rental in La Grande-Combe is perfectly located for mountain and coastal excursions, as well as trips south to explore the fascinating cultures of the French Basque region. However, as the highest peak in the much celebrated Cevennes National Park, Mont Lozere is both a sensational place to walk and climb during the summer months, and ski in the winter. This is an idyllic region of deep valleys, sheer cliffs, charming stone cottages and gurgling streams that cannot fail to capture the heart.

The scrub moorland that covers the slopes of Mont Lozere and the surrounding countryside makes it a perfect location for walking and horse riding holidays, affording sensational 360? panoramas across the varied landscapes of Languedoc-Roussillon. The Cevennes National Park is absolutely stunning; the rugged hills are carpeted with gorse, whilst the deep valleys below are thick with timeless chestnut woodlands, all perfectly natural and wonderfully undiscovered by most. The wildlife in the park is wonderfully varied, and you can often see birds of prey gliding above.

Road cycling is a huge activity in La Grand-Combe, with cyclists coming from aroundEuropeto train and test their resolve on the twisting, climbing roads of the region. The routes are quite fearsome, but the views from the corners make the climbs worth it many times over.

In fact, there are a vast range of sports and activities that can be arranged from a self catering holiday rental in La Grand-Combe, from paragliding to canoeing, fishing to golf. There are more golf courses springing up each year in the region, with 4 currently located within around half an hour of holiday accommodation in the area. Golf d’Arles Ribaute and Golf de la Garde-Guerin are among the best in the region, both offering an excellent 18 holes in spectacular mountain scenery.

The beaches of the Mediterranean coast are easily within an hour’s drive of a holiday rental villa in La Grand-Combe, despite seeming to be a lifetime away. There are many world class sand beaches to choose from, and whether you would prefer a long, lazy day in the sun or an adventure tour of the coast enjoying activities from scuba diving to sailing, wind surfing to banana boating, you shall not want for entertainment along the French Mediterranean.

1.'Many many thanks for a wonderful time in your Mas. We all enjoyed the peace and tranquillity & the abundant space to each do our own thing! The area is stunning & we had some great days out driving off the beaten track. I was very reluctant to leave. Thank you too for the bottle of wine. Really very kind of you.' 2.'We had a wonderful time at Portes. It is generously equipped & feels more like someone else's home (which of course it is).. We often talked about that, and your obvious generosity and trust, I hope it made us even more careful about the way we treated the fabric, furnishings & facilities. We saw a family of 5 sanglier piglets who seem to come every day..the house was spotless when we arrived..We loved our week and felt privileged that you allowed us to share your precious Cevennol home. Thank you very much.' 3.'We had a wonderful holiday. The house was great we loved it and it felt like a home and not like a house for rent..We will certainly recommend it'.
