Make A Holiday Rental Gite in La Chaume, France, Your Home Away From Home

Surrounded by rolling countryside and forests is the small village of La Chaume in Burgundy. If you are looking to step down a gear and take a relaxing break, then a holiday in La Chaume is just for you. Of course, there are no high rise hotels blighting the scenery in this area, and instead, a holiday rental gite in La Chaume is the preferred choice of accommodation. Tastefully decorated, well furnished and coming with all mod cons, it is more a home away from home than anything else.

Things to Do on Holiday in La Chaume, France

Although one of the attractions of a holiday in la Chaume is the relaxed way of life, you may like to do some sort of activities whilst there. There are cycle and foot paths which link the village with others, and you can also cycle along the quiet country lanes for miles. The Loire River is not far away, and here you can hire a canoe, or try your hand at fishing. For other activities such as tennis or golf, head to nearby Dijon.

Places to Visit on Holiday in La Chaume, France

There are many places that you can get out and see during your holiday in La Chaume. There are many castles or chateaux in various states of repair scattered throughout the area, and they are certainly worth visiting. Another idea for a trip out is to take a tour of a vineyard. Burgundy is obviously well known for its wines, and by taking a tour, you would have the chance to learn a little more about it, and of course try a glass or two! If you fancy a change from the calm surroundings of your self catering accommodation in La Chaume then visit the nearby city of Dijon, with its centuries’ old architecture, restaurants and shops.

Weather in La Chaume, France

The weather in this part of France can be broadly described as being warm and hot during the Summer and mild to cold during the winter. The summer months are the most popular time to take a holiday in La Chaume, and August in particular is the peak, due to the weather frequently being in the top end of the twenties degrees Celsius. Rainfall is fairly minimal during this time. The late Autumn to Winter can see more unsettled weather, with storms and even frosts being possible as early as mid September.

Travel to La Chaume, France

There are three good options to consider when thinking of how to travel to your self catering accommodation in La Chaume. These are to fly, drive or take the train. If flying, you may wish to use the Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris (CDG) with its connections worldwide. Visitors from the UK might like to use British Airways who fly from London Heathrow (LHR). If driving, your point of entry is likely to be Calais, and the car may come in useful during your holiday in La Chaume. If you're looking to get away from it all then look no further. Its a lovely character cottage that has been thoughtfully renovated. Sat next to a stream, in a huge garden, and on the edge of a stunning forrest its hard to imagine anything more relaxing - particularly if you like spending time outdoors. The owners live next door so help is at hand should you need it. The village itself is very small (no shop) but with a bit of planning its not a problem - lots of (stunning!) villages dotted around for the morning bakery run. Its like stepping back in time in most respects, but mobile reception is good (as is wifi at the property) The owners were warm, welcoming and very helpful. Only thing to look out for if hiking in the forrest are ticks - we pulled about 15 off of our dog in the week we were there so just need to take usual precautions - not a big deal.

A home in rural France with some Brisitsh creature comforts

                                                        4 of 5
The house is very discreet and comfortable with pretty well all the conveniences you would wish for in your own holiday home. The bedrooms are all very comfortable and the living/eating/cooking spaces are all clean, well cared for and practical so they can be enjoyed by the family without being terrified of touching of things. We ate indoors and out and everything worked perfectly. We had two little dogs who settled in instantly, their only problem being that their legs were too short for one of the steps, a very minor issue indeed and hardly the fault of the house owners! The neighbours were very French but also very pleasant and forgave our Franglais with good humour. Locally the shopping is pretty limited so planning ahead is necessary, but there is a good range of varied towns and villages within striking distance where everything can be found. The weather was mostly very kind, and we made trips to the lakes, Nigloland (compares well with with UK theme parks), Troyes, Chatillon (nice spring and excellent museum there, also very good vets for the dogs complusory visit), went bubbly tasting, did trout fishing in the village (you WILL catch a fish) and loads of other stuff. One final thing, if the night sky is clear, the stars and Milky Way are just incredibly bright compared to the UK, AND we saw loads of shooting stars. An excellent family holiday

Quiet and peaceful location, lovely gite.

Peaceful relaxing location, good quality accommodation. Bedrooms good size and overall accommodation matched pictures and was well proportioned. No wifi in gite though. Some distance from any main town and supermarket, so get your supplies in. There was a restaurant in the hamlet but we did not visit, I believe it was only open at lunchtime. We enjoyed our stay.
