Lovely fortnight in the Vezere Valley

5 of 5
The house was great, with all we needed. The pool was fantastic, and much appreciated in the heat of August in the Dordogne. Location was great - an easy walk to Montignac to get bread every day, and lots going on in the village. There's also lots to do nearby, so we didn't drive much all holiday. Thanks to Ruth and Ian for welcoming us to their lovely gite.

A delightful gite in a perfect location

5 of 5
I had stayed at Les Gites de Lascaux before, but on this occasion I rented two gites next to each other for myself, my sister, her husband and their two children. We found the place well prepared, clean and perfect for our needs. Ian and Ruth, the owner of the gites were most helpful, showed us around and explained everything to us. They gave us information about the town and the local places of interests. The gites are in walking distance from the centre if Montignac, there are many cafes, coffee shops, restaurants, and tea shops and ice cream places in the town, literally minutes away from the Gites. There is a Boulangerie and pastery shop nearby with wonderful bread, croissants and other sweet temptations for your breakfast table! I walked to this shop every morning before breakfast, did the shopping, and sat with the family outside in the garden and had our wonderful and leisurely breakfast before heading out for our daily sightseeing. On Wednesday, there is a market along the river Vezere, which goes through the town and is great for buying fruits and vegetables and many other local and regional delicacies. We loved our stay at Les Gites de Lascaux and found it very convenient that we could have two gites next to each other. The third gite was occupied at the time by an America writer who was writing a book about the region and the Lascaux. I highly recommend the place for its locatin, comfort, helpful and friendly owners, and last but not least, its excellent value for money.
