We had a group of 19 aged 20 to 60 and the chateau had all we required for a great stay. Games, badminton, boules, swimming, volleyball (we provided ball) table tennis etc. No problem cooking for this size party and the weather allowed us to enjoy our evening meals on the terrace. Various trips to beaches, vineyards and towns were all within 80 minutes drive. The caretaker, Richard was very helpful. All in all a great place to celebrate my 60th birthday.

                                                              Fab place to stay

From the moment we arrived we were made very welcome by Martin and Chris. There was a 'welcome pack' waiting for us with everything we needed to get us started and even a vase full of tulips, (from their beautiful garden I assume)! The garden room, with its perfect view of the pool, garden and village beyond, is a lovely place to spend some time. The gite is in a very good location to explore the gems of the area including La Rochelle, Bordeaux, all the small villages along the estuary and much more. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in May/June and wouldn't hesitate to return to stay at the gite if we decide to visit Mirambeau in the future. Thanks again Martin and Chris for a wonderful holiday. A perfect hideaway easily accessible to resorts

Despite the inclement February weather we spent a lovely two weeks exploring fabulous locations along the Gironde estuary. La Maison Fleury is spacious, clean cottage with everything you need to make your stay comfortable. It is tucked away in a quiet peaceful hamlet typical of the area, surrounded by fields and views of the Gironde estuary. We purchased some delicious local wine from the vineyard next door and visited the lovely Chateau Beaulon a few minutes drive away where you can book a wine tasting tour of the vineyard. The local village is 15 minute walk from the cottage, with it's friendly bar and shops. You do need a car but are within easy access of the beaches of Meschers, St George de Didonne and the larger resort of Royan. We enjoyed excellent food at many of the port side cafes in Meschers and Mortagne, visited the restaurant Chez Gigi a couple of times, a 10 minute drive away in the lovely old port town of Mortagne sur Gironde. Spent a day exploring the sites and shops in Bordeaux and another in Blaye with it's medieval Citadel, both easy to get to and about an hour's drive away. It's perfect for those who like to experience the hustle and bustle of a resort or busy town during the day, or cycle around the quiet country lanes exploring the many typically French villages in the area but then escape to the peaceful hamlet to sip wine in the garden as the sun is setting.
