Beautiful and tranquil spot with a wonderful river at the bottom of the garden

5 of 5
We had a wonderfully relaxing stay at the old mill. It is perfect for 2 families, which can be divided between the 2 properties, but would suit parties of various people. The houses are nestled in the wooded mountains, just off a very quiet mountain road. It was incredibly hot when we were there and we made the most of the outside space where we could watch the butterflies and dragon flies from the garden. The small river at the bottom of the garden was a godsend as we all retreated there to cool down in the beautifully cool water. It's a nature lovers dream with demoiselle damsel flies fluttering past, little fish and butterflies everywhere. The houses are well equipped, with everything that you could need. The kids were happy to have various toys to play with including inflatables. There are places to for a wander from the house, with more paths accessed from Boule d'Amont just down the road. We would have made more of this if it wasn't so hot! Boule d'Amont is a charming little village with a Auberge that serves amazing sorbets, although a bit overpriced they are some of the most unusual flavours I've had (Cucumber, lemon and mint - was particularly delicious!) There is lots to do very near by. We spent a lot of time swimming in the lake at Vinca, where there is a 'total wipe out' style inflatble obstacle course which is definitely worth a go if you like a challenge! Caves at Grotto des grands canellettes also well worth the trip. I would highly recommend this property for a 'get away from it all' holiday. Perfect for all ages and activities. It would be a great place for cycling as the mountain roads are very quiet. The only downside is that you are about 15-20 minutes drive from a shop/boulangerie, but this is far outweighed by the location and the property itself. We hope to return another time :)

Really nice house, great views from the pool. Well equipped and despite really hot weather the house stayed reasonably cool.
