A hidden jewel in the rural heartlands of France

5 of 5
With a storm brewing we pulled into the courtyard at Les Jacquets on a dark afternoon. We thought that we had discovered Cold Comfort Farm. On entering the house we were totally surprised. A beautiful kitchen just as one would imagine to find in a Beaujolais farmhouse, fully equipped for cooking, eating and drinking. Views across the wide landscape to the hills beyond to be enjoyed from the window above the sink and outside of the backdoor are Rosemary, Fennel and other herbs. Moving into the sitting room we found a cosy room that shared an open log fire with the kitchen; plenty of logs in the adjacent barn if required. The house also had central heating so we didn’t actually need to light the fire. There is a beautiful bathroom downstairs and an even more beautiful bathroom upstairs that services two large and airy bedrooms, that also enjoy the view across the fields. A short drive into Monsols and a fine drive to La Clayette (not to be missed). There are good walks to be had all around and especially from the Col de Crie. The owners were extremely helpful and just a telephone call away. We cannot praise Les Jacquets high enough and would recommend it to anyone who would wish to have a very ‘French’ experience.

Wonderful place to stay!

5 of 5
We have had a wonderful holiday at Chateau Valvert. It is a very impressive residence, with magnificent spacious rooms full of traditional furniture and original features, whilst also having all the modern facilities required. The grounds are ideal with lots of places to sit and take in the stunning views. There is plenty of garden furniture, a very good BBQ and lots of play equipment for children. The owners are very friendly and could not have done more to make our stay enjoyable. When we arrived they gave us some home made and local produce and generously allowed us to eat their home grown salad.
