  • A Perfect break

We stayed here in the first week of August 2018 with another family, 4 adults and 4 children. Clive & Sarah are very welcoming and have created a really beautiful house, garden and Pool in peaceful surroundings in a very pretty area. We only spent a week here but everyone agreed we would like to return again one day for a longer trip. For us it was the perfect place for a family holiday. The living space is a generous size and every room has an en-suite. The pool is also a really good size and depth and stays warms in the sun, water temp was around 25-28 during our stay. Everything you need is too hand, BBQ and great outdoor eating area, the pool, table tennis, table football, several other bits of outdoor games and plenty of space for the kids to run around. If you can keep the kids quiet for a few minute you will also see the deer running around in the field next to the pool! In addition to the outdoor games there is a selection of board games too should you need to stay out of the sun for a bit. The boulangerie across the road from the intermarche in Pont-du-casse was defiantly the best place for bread and pastries, very highly recommended, the lady who runs it was lovely and very friendly. She has good English but really loves it if you try to speak some French, however good/bad it is. The small take away Pizza Hut on the main road was also very good for a late arrival, though busy, expect 40 min wait. If you are into Bikes, the surrounding villages are just beautiful some really great views for riding around. As you may expect, it is quite hilly though so more for 'proper riding' than pootling with the kids. Hardly any road traffic though. We spent the majority of our time just relaxing in/around the house and BBQ in the evening but did take a trip up to Villeneuve, which was a very pretty little town. Some nice places to eat there around the centre of the town. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and I would recommend it to anyone!

Jim and Jo were perfect hosts and nothing was too much trouble. The property is a beautifully restored old stone barn with a contemporary and comfortable interior. The kitchen is well equipped for self catering. The outside areas are great: a north facing courtyard with views over the valley and Monflanquin, and a south facing patio with a lovely fig tree to sit in the shade of, and a good-sized pool to cool off in and play with the kids. There are also extensive grounds that we were free to explore. A car is essential and there’s not really much within easy walking distance (if you have small children as we do!) We would not hesitate to return.
