Lovely accommodation with everything we needed, in the mountains for peace and quiet, yet still close enough to Ajaccio for easy airport access. Only found one or two people that understood English, and our French was just as bad. Did not make it difficult though, with a few hand gestures, we managed fine. Village people are very friendly, and happy to see you.
Was a breath of fresh air for digital detox, getting back to nature, and reconnecting with your partner.
We did lots of walking/hiking while we were there, and the scenery is amazing (especially coming from flat East Anglia!). Just be aware though that with some very curvy roads, it generally takes twice as long to get anywhere than you think it will!
Communication with Monique was great with quick responses, and nothing was too much trouble.
We would definitely recommend a stay here, particularly if like us you have moved on from package/resort centre holidays and want to escape to a slower (even for a short time) pace of life, then this would be a perfect location.
The Ecolodge is situated 30 minutes up the side of a mountain, overlooking the Golfe d'Ajaccio. The views of the bay are absolutely stunning with amazing sunsets. To the side of the Ecolodge, the views are of snow capped mountains - again, stunning.
The property itself is also wonderful. I would describe the property as a Villa with Canvas walls and roof! It includes a ceramic toilet and shower cubicle, with a wonderful balcony area (covered) outside and a separate kitchen including gas hob, fridge and sink.
You are not overlooked and the proprietor Marc (whose house is further up the slope in the grounds) is extremely helpful.
The road leading to the Ecolodge takes a little getting used to - in particular, the dirt track for the last mile - take it slowly and carefully!
Corsica has to be the most attractive, scenic and interesting island we have visited and I would recommend it to anyone. This is a great base to explore the south western corner of the island.
