Make a holiday rental apartment or villa in Ginestas, France your home away from home

The wonderfully pretty village of Ginestas is found in the Aude department of Languedoc-Rousillon, southern France just 15km from Narbonne. Located on the UNESCO world heritage Canal du Midi and close to the Spanish border, flanked by the foothills of the Pyrenees and the beaches of the Mediterranean, a holiday rental in Ginestas provides endless opportunity for entertainment and adventure.

Things to do in Ginestas, France

You need never leave Ginestas during your holiday, and still live in luxury for the duration. The bakery in the town centre pumps mouth watering aromas into the air every morning and there are shops, a bank, cafes and restaurants to provide all the facilities you may need. There are also town tennis courts and a riding school if you would like to enjoy some sport during your stay in Ginestas accommodation. The riding trails and footpaths leading into the foothills of the Pyrenees are a nature lover’s dream, as there are almost limitless routes you can take, and the viewpoints and hidden historic sites you shall stumble across are priceless. The inland salt water lagoons of the coast are excellent for walking and cycling too, and bird lovers will be right at home, as the salt lagoons are an important home to many species, including the iconic flamingo.

The village stands on the edge the Languedoc-Rousillon wine growing region, with vineyards surrounding the edges of the village. The vineyards make wonderful places to walk, and there are ample opportunities to enjoy wine tasting days. If you would like to buy some of the best vintages, the Ginestas Thursday morning market is an excellent place to find some fantastic bargains.

The beaches of the Mediterranean are just half an hour away too. The beaches along the Languedoc-Rousillon coast are blissfully soft and sandy, perfect for long, lazy days in the sun. All along the coastline, water sports thrive. The reliable winds mean that sailors, windsurfers and kitesurfers flock to the region, especially as this is one of the warmest regions of France.

Perfect canal side location

5 of 5
What a delightful Gite in an outstanding and quiet location on the canal du midi, great view to wake up to in the morning and also to enjoy the front terrace area with a glass of wine in the evening . With options for al fresco dining at both the front and rear of the property, and restaurants close by this makes for a very convenient location without the need to drive far.The accommodation is well thought out, impeccably clean with quality crockery, cutlery and glassware (often overlooked in rental accommodation). The Gite is very spacious and has all the modern conveniences in the kitchen that you would want for home cooking if you choose to prepare your own meals, a bonus was the surprise delivery of freshly laid hens eggs from the owners hens next door and made breakfast even more of a delight. I would certainly not hesitate to return to this beautiful Gite and superb canal side location. Nicole and Michel the owners live next door which was a great bonus as they have taken great care with their Gite to ensure a comfortable stay, which is not always the case in properties that are managed remotely. Parking was a bonus too, available adjacent to the property.
