Make a holiday apartment in Genos your home away from home

The mid-Pyrenees is home to the delightful village of Genos. It is a real charm of the Haute-Garonne region and lies about 90 kms from the departmental capital of Toulouse. HomeAway offers a selection of holiday apartments in Genos equipped with all the conveniences you would expect to ensure a comfortable stay and some even come with a heated pool and sauna. A Genos holiday apartment is in peacefully quiet surroundings but is only a short driving distance from many beautiful attractions. Your holiday can be as relaxing or eventful as you want it to be. One thing that is guaranteed it will be enjoyable.

Things to do

Genos is a tiny place of less than 200 inhabitants. It is nestled in foothills in the Louron Valley next to Lake Génos-Loudenvielle, in an area of stunningly scenic countryside. The charming valley is ideal in summer for enjoying outdoor pursuits and holiday homes in Genos are close enough to snowfields for winter sports holidays.

-The Sanctuaries Notre Dame de Lourdes is most likely the top place to visit during your holiday. This sacred site, visited by a multitude of pilgrims every year who travel there in the hopes to be miraculously healed by the Lourdes water, is only a short journey from Genos. The site covers 52 acres and as various sights to see. The Grotto of Massabielle contains the spring from which the sacred water comes. The Basilique Notre-Dame du Rosaire is also a must see with its Venetian mosaic decorations and paintings of saints and blessed people.

-The Pic du Midi de Bigorre is home to a scientific observatory and it has parts that are open to the public. Getting to this site is an adventure in itself. The only way to reach the observatory is by two cable cars. The cable car ride goes up the steep mountainside, over deep ravines, giving you absolutely fantastic views over the surrounding countryside. Once you reach the top you can wander at leisure around the observatory’s museum and take in the views.

-Skiing and snowboarding in this area is a popular pastime and a great reason to choose a Genos holiday chalet in winter. At a visit to La Mongie you will find approximately 100 kms of piste skiing. There are slopes for the beginner up to the experienced skier or snowboarder. Equipment can be hired and there are instructors available if you require teaching. As this is such a short distance from your rental holiday apartment it is sure to be a popular pastime.

-Golfing for some is more than just a pastime; it’s a passion. While holidaying in your rental apartment you don’t have to forgo your game of golf. Bagners de Bigorre golf course gives amazing mountain views as you go round the course.

-Ludic Park is a great way to spend the day if you have children with you on your holiday. The park has a number of giant inflatables, like a slide and obstacle course. There are trampolines and mini quad bikes to ride on a track. There are also pony rides available. The park provides a pleasant way to pass the afternoon.

5* Beautiful Apartment

5 of 5
Beautiful apartment with everything you would need in a self catering apartment (and more!). The apartment is extremely spacious with all mod cons. The bedrooms are very spacious each with a large interactive TV. The shower room which has a toilet and washing machine has a power shower with various jets (much needed after a day on the slopes). The main bathroom has a jacuzzi bath (again useful after a day on the slopes) and is spacious with a wall mounted towel rail and clothes drier over the bath. The main living room is spacious and luxurious with an amazing L-shaped leather sofa - more than enough space for a large family or large group. The outside balcony is large and has a beautiful view of the fountain in the main square. The village is lively with plenty of amazing restaurants with a variety of different choices to choose from. Definitely try Casa Tom if you want traditional Savoyard cuisine (amazing food and staff and extremely friendly and helpful). You do have a little trek to the main telecabine to get up the mountain but the facilities and closeness to the village and restaurant wasn’t a big issue. The ski area was plenty for a weeks skiing with some amazing scenic runs and suits all abilities. We were a family of 5 (3 teenagers) and would definitely recommend staying here.
