I highly recommend staying at this beautiful property. We (4 adults, 2 toddlers and 2 dogs) had a fabulous break over the New Year. Everything about our experience was 5 stars. We couldn’t have asked for a better host than Claudia. She was extremely welcoming and helpful to all of our questions and requests. The apartment itself was beautiful, and well maintained. There are no faults to speak of. The location is very private, yet convenient if you would like to visit Bayeux, Caen or the D-day beaches. My only worry before coming to L'Orangerie du Grand Jardin were the dogs. My two (French bulldogs) can be quite boisterous with other dogs and I was slightly apprehensive about them interacting with Claudia’s dog. However, Claudia’s dog is the gentlest soul. I was absolutely in love with her. And she behaved like a true lady with my trouble makers We took away with us lovely memories of our stay in Normandy as well as stunning photos.

  • Secluded home in Normandy countryside. France profonde of village life and rural culture

Visitors who are looking for a quiet getaway in the midst of the countryside, fabulous lanes and woods for walks will not be disappointed. Eddy the dog who was welcome in the cottage could never have enough of these walks. The friendly owners welcomed us to the cottage and showed us around. Their conversation was in French, but there was a folder in English to fall back on. In the sitting room there was the most wonderful open fire and the owners supplied huge amounts of logs to feed it with. The electric heating kept the other rooms warm and the hot water never ran out. St Lo was 15 minutes by car and had a variety of supermarkets. Bayeux of tapestry fame was 20 minutes away and well worth a visit. The cottage was filled with the owners collections of cars, baskets, books and pictures, which made it look like a home and not just a rented cottage. This review is for a winter stay and we would love to come back and see it in summer.
