Make a holiday rental apartment or villa in Flayosc, France your home away from home

The medieval village of Flayosc perches on a rocky hill in the Draguignan region of Provence in southern France. The circular wall of houses that form a sort of defensive wall around the village are an iconic image of medieval Provence, and providing a sight that will warm the hearts of any visitor.

Things to do in Flayosc, France

A large amount of time should be spent leisurely exploring Flayosc, regardless of how long you intent to stay in a Flayosc apartment or villa. The hilltop village centre is a colourful area of apartments and houses around the fortified tower of St Laurent church, which dominates the skyline. The centre of Flayosc is a beautiful place to simply sit and relax, with the sound of water gushing from the highly attractive fountain ringing in your ears. There is also a wonderful walkway through the village, hidden from most visitors, and taking those discerning enough to find it past some of the oldest buildings of Flayosc and past some of the most remarkable gardens.

Flayosc is known locally to be one of the best places to find a good restaurant. Restaurants remain open even on a Sunday in Flayosc, providing mouth watering local delicacies and great value for money. The wines produced in the Var department are all readily available in Flayosc, giving you a wonderful selection to choose from during your meal. Restaurants stay open much later than they do at home, and there are some fantastic little bars to frequent during your stay in Flayosc accommodation, although don’t expect a vibrant clubbing scene!

The surrounding countryside is littered with olive groves and vineyards, many of which offer tours and wine tasting sessions, but travel a little further and the countryside opens up into a heady mix of mountains and forests. The huge roman bridge to the north west of Flayosc and the beautiful waterfall to the south are both excellent destinations for walks from the village. There are also olive mills, vineyards and even a doll’s hospital to find in the surrounding countryside. Golfers will also be right at home in a Flayosc property, as there are some top class golf courses near the village.

Places to visit on holiday in Flayosc, France

The beaches of the Cote d’Azur are just half an hour’s drive from a self catering Flayosc property rental. During the summer months, the appeal of the beaches is overwhelming, and once you see the vast expanses of fine, golden sand that lines the coastline, you too will be unable to resist a long day in the sun. The closest beaches are those of the St Tropez region, including Les Issambres, St Raphael and Frejus. Water sports are absolutely fantastic in the area, and whether you would like to simply relax with the sun on your face and the sand between your toes or get active in the clear, warm waters of the Mediterranean, opportunities are common.

Weather in Flayosc, France

Flayosc has a wonderfully warm, Mediterranean climate, with temperatures in July and August reaching around 28˚C in July and August, with daily peaks reaching well into the mid to high 30’s (˚C) on a daily basis. The warmth of the day lasts long into the evening, and eating outside is a real pleasure from May until late September.

Travel to Flayosc, France

Nice International Airport (NCE) is just under an hour from a holiday rental property in Flayosc, France. There are a huge range of direct flights to Nice from the UK, with services landing in a daily basis, especially during the summer months, when flights arrive almost hourly. Finding a suitable cheap flight to Flayosc should be very easy, with airport transfers in great abound. A hire car is not an essential asset from a Flayosc villa, but is recommended for anyone wishing to explore a little further than just the village.

Peaceful Rest

5 of 5
Property is ideal for a secluded and peaceful break. Very thick walls keep it cool in the evenings and has a wood stove we used on several occasions. We intended to use it as a base to explore the region, but due to the beds being too comfortable we did have trouble getting out in the early mornings. You do drive past the owners house on the track leading to the property (unseen from the cottage), and we didn't realise they lived there until the last day, as you are left in total privacy. The description & photographs of the property are spot on and has recently been refurbished, so I do not need to elaborate with further details, it also has a good wifi network, which was surprising given its remoteness. The route from town is along the old railway line, and is a popular cycle highway, a bonus as 2 bikes are supplied as well. You are not more than an hour and a half from the silver beaches & secluded bays, which were empty in the last week of Sept, you come out of the sea looking as if you have been to a glitter party or the Verdon Gorge to the north. Strongly recommend getting the Michelin Tourist Map 1cm=1km, as it gives star ratings to all the local villages worth visiting within 30-40 mins, we were visiting 2-3 a day, and we still didn't get to do everything we wanted to do within the week.

Really Lovely - little things would have made it 5 star

4 of 5
Loved our two week stay here in September 2017. I did try to do a full review but ran out of space so will do a quick pro's and con's. Pro's - Stunning views, extremely clean, great layout, lots of facilities, almost everything you need in the kitchen, fresh towels, supermarkets close by, weather amazing, beautifully decorated, really well equipped, pizza oven was fantastic, hot tub was so relaxing, sauna was great Con's - biggest was lack of communication from the owner on the lead up not matter how many calls, emails and text were sent. Pool and hot tub where not cleaned or checked for chlorine during any or our stay and not sure it was done before we arrived. A little tired in places for example pool had missing tiles, taps that don't turn off fully or leak, double bed made from two singles and two single duvets used rather than the correct size, edging on the pool really harsh, missing skimmers on pool, no sunbed cushions, sofa extremely uncomfy and bed mattresses well used and hard. Aircon in the two downstairs bedrooms did not work. Really no English TV channels that we found other than one I think All the con's are just niggles really and didn't affect our day to day enjoyment really. I think it just needs a little investment in some decent pillows, bedding and comfort things and a little DIY in places. However, would I stay again? Absolutely the views alone were 5 star as you sit sipping your freshly ground coffee from the machine they have every morning and enjoy a local Merlot from the Vin Yard shop just round the corner in the evening as you wait for your pizza or BBQ to cook and enjoy the sun set. Happy to receive emails if further information required as owner does not speak any english: deonne_slocombe@hotmail.com
