Make A Holiday Rental Gite in Epoisses, France, Your Home Away From Home

The small village of Epoisses lies just outside of the Morvan Natural Park, in the Burgundy region of France. A place like this has no need of high rise hotels, when a holiday rental gite in Epoisses is a far better form of accommodation. Furnished and decorated with that personal touch which makes it feel more like a home away from home, it makes the ideal base from which to explore the Burgundy region of France. A holiday in Epoisses is suitable for those people who are looking for peaceful surroundings, whilst at the same time still having access to things to do and see should they so wish.

Things to Do on Holiday in Epoisses, France

The Morvan Natural Park is close by to the self catering accommodation in Epoisses, and as such, makes a good destination if you are interested in outdoors activities. You can fish and even swim in the rivers that flow through the park, go on walks and cycle. Other activities that can be pursued in the surrounding area include horse riding, tennis, canoeing and kayaking and golf.

Places to Visit on Holiday in Epoisses, France

Epoisses might only be a tiny dot on the map, but it is also home to a world famous type of cheese, with which it shares its name. A visit to see how this “smelly” cheese is made is almost obligatory during your holiday in Epoisses. There is nothing that goes better with cheese than wine, and Burgundy is one of the main wine producing regions in France. Again, a visit to a winery or two is highly recommended, in order to find out more about the wine making process, and of course to buy a bottle or two! There is nothing quite like finishing a day by drinking a glass of wine whilst sitting outside your holiday rental gite in Epoisses!

Weather in Epoisses, France

The Burgundy region of France can produce very hot Summers, but on the flip side, cold winters. It is not unusual to see the thermometer top 30 degrees Celsius during the very hottest summer months of July and August. The Autumn time can produce quite unpredictable weather, with rain, storms and even the occasional frosts occurring. The Winter time sees the weather more settled, but colder, and frosts are more common. A holiday in Epoisses is more popular from the late Spring through to the early Autumn.

Travel to Epoisses, France

If you are flying as a means of travel to get to your holiday rental gite in Epoisses, then you could land at Charles de Gaulle airport (CDG) in Paris. This is a major international airport, and as such has connections with cities around the world. Travellers from the UK might be interested in flights from London Heathrow (LHR) courtesy of British Airways. Another popular alternative is to drive over from the UK, as this will also give you the use of a car during your vacation. Calais is the best port to arrive at in this case.

Tivauche is the perfect place to explore this beautiful area of France. Bill and Jenny were amazingly helpful with near encyclopaedic knowledge of the area! Nothing was too much trouble and they were the perfect hosts. The house is warm, welcoming, beautifully decorated and well equipped with great space inside and a calm peaceful outlook from the garden. The local cheese shop in Epoisse is gorgeous with lots of tempting treats and it is a superb base to explore the local vineyards. The quiet roads and the canal path for cycling and walking make this a superb holiday bet.

Excellent holiday house with plenty to do

Franck and Sophie's farmhouse in Vic de Chassenay is delightful. We drove from London and it was very easy to get there. The farmhouse is very spacious, comfortable and well equipped: the kitchen was great and the billiard room was, of course, very popular. We had mixed weather but this was not a problem because the owners have also left a number of games to play, including table tennis with enough bats and balls for everyone. There are plenty of books in the French language which covered a wide range of subjects from Victor Hugo to local mushrooms. It’s easy to relax in the garden outside and the lounge area in the evenings. The neighbouring paddock is full of docile, grazing Charolais including a very large bull. We liked watching them close up from the garden. The pool is also large and well maintained. Vic de Chassenay is well located for Chateaux and vineyards alike. Alesia is an excellent attraction for all age ranges interested in Gallo-Roman relations and it provided good opportunities for our daughter to engage in workshops [in French with some English explanation]. The local village of Semur en Auxois is very handy for our shopping requirements. Chateau de Bussy Rabutin is an interesting site for lovers of French pre-Revolutionary history- worth a visit for the collecion of portraiture and witty and observant commentary on the court life of Louis XIV. We would love to return.
