We had a very pleasant two weeks revisiting favourite haunts in the area. As my disabled daughter also suffers from chronic attacks of fatigue, often without warning, we only all ate out together once in the evening, at Hotel de La Gare in Gavray – very quiet on a Thursday night. Good meal, but not a patch on that which three of us enjoyed at Restaurant Auberge de L’Abbaye Hambye – first class three course 29 euro menu and a reasonably priced bottle of Beaujolais. At this time of year the markets are also less vibrant and busy. Unfortunately, the artisan baker decided to take his holiday whilst we were staying, so not able to try this. The three in Percy are all good, as is the supermarket, much better than that in Hambye and also good for petrol. The self-guided tour around Villedieu’s courtyards and other buildings is highly recommended – you can get a booklet in the Tourist Office. The farmhouse was great and generally very well equipped. The pool hoist was great for my daughter. My daughter said the farmhouse was excellent from a disabled person’s point of view. . Locally, Abbye Hambye let her go around free as she could only get into a few parts of the site and there is a lovely flat path, very suitable for wheelchair users, along the Vire river from the car park at La Chapelle-sur-Vire, to the north of Tessy. Le Mesnil is a lovely tranquil location and yet still easy to get to interesting places.

Wonderful stone cottage, lovely and spacious and well equipped. The kids enjoyed all the traditional games and were entertained. The location is perfect to explore the regions stunning beaches, churches, villages and towns. We highly recommend this cottage which exceeded our expectations and all at a reasonable peak season rate.
