  • A peaceful retreat in a quiet rural location.
    5 of 5

The farmhouse was spacious, roomy, clean and well equipped. The lovely shady garden was a great place to relax, near the pool, which we all enjoyed. The nearby town of St Savinien had everything we needed, with the possible exception of a good restaurant, although neighbouring villages provided some delightful places to eat. The house was also a good base from which to explore the local area and the owner provided a wealth of useful information. Saintes, Rochfort, Congac, La Rochelle and Angeloume were all worthwhile and easy day trips. We also enjoyed visiting the beaches on Isle d’Oleron; about 60 - 90 minutes away. We very much enjoyed our stay and would recommend the property and area to anyone seeking a relaxing place to unwind.

  • A very comfortable gite in a beautiful region
    5 of 5

The gite is well equipped, clean and comfortable. It was great to have 3 bedrooms and three badrooms! The property is spacious and the surroundings are quiet. The covered terrace is a a real pleasure. There is a lot to see in the Saintonge: churches, castles, gallo-roman remains (for example an amphi-theatre, acquaduct) and lovely towns. The coast is not too far away and the beaches are very nice. Bordeaux is about 75 minutes by car. We used the Parc & Relais Les Lauriers where we parked the car and travelled by tram to the city centre. Anne and her mother are great hosts: friendly and very helpfull, giving a lot of information about the region. Thank you for your hospitality and a relaxing stay at your gite!
