  • A nice cottage full of character
    4 of 5

Just spent a week in Le Clops, a well equipped cottage with lovely garden in a very pretty village. We enjoyed walks through the woods and around the local area, in particular the old photographs which have been displayed aroung the local village. The weather was great for late October and we spent a good amount of time in the garden. I feel I must mention that although the property welcomes dogs, the garden is not escape proof, having a couple of areas where there is no fence and some gaps in the hedge. Our Jack Russel leapt from the garden some 6 feet to the lane below to 'greet' a local dog walking by! The living room was very cosy and the log burner was particularly useful in the evenings when the sun went down. The master bed was very comfortable as was the large blue sofa in the living room. The cottage is full of character from the wonky floors to the creaky staircase, the character only slighty spoiled by some rather unsympathetic additions - ugly very modern spotlights in the kitchen somehow held to the ceiling by screwing into pieces of wood at each end to hold them steady. The back garden was a sun trap in the morning but we were unable to sit out there due to there being no tables and chairs there. This did not stop us enjoying our time here and we had on the whole a very peaceful and relaxing week.

  • Delightful taste of rural France
    5 of 5

Stayed 5 nights in this lovely property in a delightful part of France. The house has a modern kitchen and bathroom downstairs. Upstairs, the bedrooms have modern hand basins and bidets, otherwise everything else is authentically original which adds to the charm. Across the road is the owner's property complete with a very pleasant swimming pool. An added bonus for us was that the owner, Alain, was staying in his house. He is an absolute charmer and very helpful. The only possible downside is that there is only one toilet and it is downstairs. The nearby village is a couple of miles away and has butcher, baker and tabac , bar/cafe and a small convenience store for essentials.
