  • Beautiful Rooftop

Just returned from a lovely stay at this beautiful property. It is perfect for 4 adults and maybe a couple of children but may not suit 6 adults as the open mezzanine layout and configuration of bathrooms is not optimal. The location is great if you want to relax and chill out on the terrace which is perfect, with no overlooking properties and spectacular views. Also it is next door to the Monastery which is impressive and the area is very good - quiet with a sense of calm everywhere. The park nearby is a great facility, well used by locals at weekends. Outdoor is where you will spend most of your time and there are huge awnings to cover almost the whole terrace if you want. Inside is very well kitted out with good coffee machines and all the kitchen equipment you could ask for. Transport is OK - a 5 or 6 minute walk to no 15 buses to old town. The host Marie Helene is a joy to deal with and communication throughout the transaction and stay was exceptional. We would definitely return.

  • What a Palace!

The pictures do not do this place justice. This stunning building at the centre of the district of Cimiez in the north of Nice is as grand inside as it is outside. Our charming host, Marie Dominique met us on the steps and led us into the the beautifully columned entrance hall where, if you listen carefully, faint echoes of a long-finished Victorian ball may still be heard. Is that Queen Victoria sitting in the shadows.........? The apartment is on the 4th floor, the ascent being made by a charmingly antique elevator, or you can build up your Fitbit score and thigh muscles by climbing the 117 steps of the grand staircase. The apartment is magnificent and although only the master bedroom is air-conditioned, the other high-ceilinged rooms remained pleasantly cool in the heat of a Nice summer. The lounge with its comfortable sofa and armchairs, flat screen TV and huge, well stocked bookcase, is completed by two balconies with superb views over the city and the Bay of Angels. A small but well equipped kitchenette and two bathrooms complete the tale of the accommodation, and the private pool in the lovely garden is really the icing on this outstanding cake. The location is superb, about 10 minutes drive from the center of Old Nice, or there is a number 15 bus stop about 50m from the front door which will take you to Nice Etoile Shopping Centre, close to Place Massena in the heart of the city. (Get off at Place Wilson for the Old Town). Museums of artists Marc Chagall and Henri Matisse are within walking distance, and an archaeological museum with the amphitheatre and bath house of the ancient Roman city of Cemenelum lies just across the road, along with the old Franciscan monastery with its famous Italianate gardens. All in all, a perfect location for a perfect holiday and highly recommended.
