The pictures on the website made us decide to stay at La Dépendance and when we arrived on 19th May, we were stunned that the view was even more beautiful than we had expected. The cottage itself is large enough for 2 people and very well provided. What is also most convenient is that Salornay-sur-Guye is only 3 km, where there is a good bakery, a butcher who is an excellent traiteur, a small store for food and drink, a pizzeria. 4 restaurants are very close, of which we can recommend L' Etape Chârollaise, which has also very good take away meals (how much enjoyable is that : just put your meal in the oven and have a glass of cool white wine on the terrace while waiting). Going to Cluny (supermarket, restaurants, sightseeing), you drive through such widescreen vistas that you would want to drive there everyday. People who like green rolling hills, picturesque old villages and local walks with wonderful panoramas, are at the right place here in Les Jandots/Sailly. You can even start walking right from your door step. In almost every village there is a parking place near the church, where a large information board gives you the map and info for the local walk. Sigy-le-Châtel, only 3 km away, is good start for a walk. The one in Bissy-sur-Fley is also beautiful. Old places like Cluny, Tournus, Saint-Gengoux-le-National are interesting to visit. Smaller places like Chapaize, Ozenay, Brancion are also worth visiting. The Cormatin castle is very nice, and there's a new café-restaurant in Cormatin, Chez l'Oncle Jules, who also do brocante and have the most ecclectic interior you could imagine. There's a cave coopérative in Saint-Gengoux and in Buxy for buying those tasteful wines from Montagny-lès-Buxy. Further south there are the Maconnais winefields, with the Cave des Grands Crus Blancs in Vinzelles, where you can buy Pouilly-Fuissé. When near Macon, you can visit the medieval castle of Berzé-le-Châtel and the Pierreclos castle, or go to the top of the Solutré rock and have a panoramic view of all surrounding wine villages. In the Charollais the castle of La Clayette and the castle of Drée are recommendable. A 15 minute drive takes you to Mont-Saint-Vincent : on top of this 600 meter hill you can see 14 departments and the village is picture perfect. When coming home to the cottage, you are welcomed by the jolly little dog Bunny and by Ellie, who will always be happy to have a talk. We told her we will certainly come back !
The farmhouse was perfect, enough space for everyone to relax, lovely garden and pool (even with it's scary-at-night robot cleaner). Nice easy walk into Cluny, which is a lovely town.
Couldn't recommend it more, and we'll hopefully be back at some point soon!
