Make a holiday rental home or villa in Chenaud, France your home away from home

The village of Chenaud lies right in the heart of the largest wine producing region in France, between Bordeaux, Bergerac, Saint-Emilion and Cognac, making it the perfect rural getaway for wine lovers. Chenaud is a wonderfully quiet village with just 300 or so inhabitants and a medieval appearance that seems to compliment the surrounding rural landscapes of Perigord Vert exactly.

Things to do in Chenaud, France

If you are staying in a Chenaud holiday rental, the world leading wines will certainly make an appearance! There are no end of vineyard and chateau tours to take, and wine tasting sessions are available at almost every turn. The majority of local villages have a weekly market in which you can buy the freshest produce, and get all the tips you need to cook local delicacies as they are meant to be. If you would prefer someone else to do the cooking during your Chenaud holiday, there are certainly no shortage of gourmet restaurants, but be warned, a quick lunch is almost unheard of in the Dordogne, as the food is far too good to be rushed.

A holiday rental property in Chenaud is ideal for relaxing breaks, immersed in the gloriously laidback lifestyles of the Dordogne, as well as activity breaks in the countryside. A Chenaud villa is the ideal base for walking, mountain biking and horse riding holidays, with endless trails running through the woods, hills and vineyards that make up the countryside of Perigord Vert. There are a handful of riding stables offering riding lessons and excursions in the Chenaud region.

The nearby River Donne is an entertainment centre in its own right too. Aside from offering glorious natural walking, riding and cycling routes, the river is also wonderfully clean, perfect for refreshing summer swimming. Canoes can be hired, and fishing permits can be easily obtained from many of the tubas locally.

Places to visit on holiday in Chenaud, France

The Dordogne is awash with attractions, littered with charming medieval villages, imposing wine chateau and pre-historic monuments that defy belief. There are also a great variety of festivals, events and antique markets occurring throughout the summer. See the Dordogne Tourist Information Offices for further information.

Weather in Chenaud, France

A villa in Chenaud provides a magnificent getaway at any time. Winters are remarkably mild, and you are unlikely to experience daily temperatures much below 10˚C. During the warmest months, July and August, daily peak temperatures are most likely to reach into the mid 30’s (˚C) but not much more.

Travel to Chenaud, France

A holiday rental gite in Chenaud is around an hour from Bergerac Airport (EGC). A hire car is almost essential when staying in Chenaud, as the rural location makes getting around without a car very difficult. Luckily, both Ryanair and Flybe operate a good range of direct flights to Bergerac from the UK.

A wonderful stay in a wonderful home

5 of 5
We feel very privileged to have spent a week staying in this lovely home. The location is so peaceful, with some of the most gorgeous dog walks right from the front door. The Moroccan style courtyard was a delightfully cool place all day and the back walled garden a real sun trap. Every day was special, wish we were still here.

Highly recommended to get away from it all!

5 of 5
The property was immaculate with beautiful farmland surroundings and well maintained swimming pool, lawns and flower beds. The added bonus of a pool table, table football, ping pong table, board games and library was great for the family to use and more than I expected! Location-wise it was great as we were in town for a wedding at Chateau de la valouze, only ten minutes away by car. And finally, the hosts were most hospitable, it felt like being home from home & they were great fun to socialise with. It was a fab place to switch off and we wouldn’t hesitate to return for a holiday! Thanks both!
