  • Holiday at Bourgale first week of September 2018

We spent a thoroughly enjoyable week at this property. It is an oasis of relaxation, a cottage surrounded by gardens, meadows and forest. The accommodation is spacious, very well equipped and has a lovely character that blends well with the 12th century manor. David and Katie were welcoming and excellent hosts.Their recommendations and local knowledge ensured each day trip was memorable. We divided our time between relaxing at the cottage gardens and lovely pool, and exploring the Pergord region.

  • Clean and well equipped cottage in beautiful surroundings, with easy travel to local attractions

Walnut cottage is set in quiet and scenic surroundings. The cottage has everything you need to make it feel home from home. Carolyn and Jerry make you feel at home immediately and offer suggestions of local attractions without being intrusive. Even though we don't have a dog we loved seeing Inca who is such a gentle and loving natured dog. My husband found it a great base to explore the area on his road bike with plenty of challenging routes to complete. We visited Sarlat (early one morning before the crowds, as suggested by Carolyn), went canoeing (which is a great day out), visited the local bread maker Friday night (lovely bread, make sure you get there early before it sells out), Domme is lovely and the caves are worth a visit but go early, and finally the Castles are great to explore with Castelnaud a good visit taking no more than a few hours to do. Would throughly recommend the cottage and the area as there is so much to explore, and would stay in the cottage again if we wanted to stay in the area again. Thank you Jerry and Carolyn.
